The VFW's Legislative Goals

<hr>

As members of the VFW, we all need to get visibly involved in local and national election processes. To have legislative issues of concern for all veterans addressed, we must ensure that people running for office are pro veteran. Without our involvement, our elected officials will not respond to those issues which we judge as significant.

The following items are highlights of some of the legislative items that are being worked on by the National VFW organization. For additional details and a complete list of all the legislative items
see the VFW Washington Legislative page.
  1. Increase the budget for Department of Veterans Affairs.
  2. Provide long term care for aging veterans.
  3. Provide Department of Veterans Affairs with resources necessary for veteran women's medical care.
  4. Provide Medicare payments to VA Health Care system for Medicare eligible veterans.
  5. Provide mandated access to VA Health Care for all veterans seeking health care.
  6. A new G.I. Bill for the 21st century.
  7. Active duty pay equity.
  8. Reform military retirement benefits.
  9. Support veterans hiring preferences in all levels of federal, state and local governments.
