DI'S JOURNAL

May 12, 2006 Wow, well I just have to say that God is so faithful in the midst of challenging circumstances! I'm almost at my full funding for Peru, and I'm getting a new car.... Only 3 weeks left at work, and then on to Training camp for staff and then PERU!!

STAY in the RIVER--God's power is like a mighty river, and recently as I've been preparing for the Amazon, I've been seeing that if we stay in the river of His Spirit, He'll direct us :-).

May 1, 2006 Okay, so I'm in the market for a new car, apparently... Last Tuesday night, after hearing of a dear friends' mother passing away, I came home and parked in my spot as usual. When I got up on Wednesday and went out to head to work--NO CAR! :-( Needless to say, since this is the second time my Civic had come up missing, I knew the routine. Called the police, insurance, and then arranged for a rental.. But I know God will allow something good to come out of this. Other than that, it was a great week, and I am excited because I've had a chance to talk with many of my trip participants, and they are awesome!! God is so good, and I've had some sweet time with friends this week, too (including dancing at the Mercury Cafe). Prayer requests for the trip are: unity among all the leaders and team members, ability to play and sing songs excellently in Spanish and for all of us to be able to speak Spanish understandably! Blessings to you all!!

Team: do you have your mosquito netting ready? Medical stuff taken care of? Passports!!?? :) Y'all rock...

April 14, 2006 Wow.. this past weekend was our AIM leaders training, and it was amazing!! I liken it to sitting under a waterfall of the Spirit of God. We worshipped and prayed for almost 48 hours, and of course had sweet fellowship, LOTS of trainnig and good information, and I am now even more stoked (fired up) for this trip! On the flight home, I was able to read the applications of our students (there's 20 signed up now!) who will be with us, and I have also connected well with Isaac and Kari (my co-leaders). Most importantly, I am excited that God is moving in my life, and speaking in new ways to me. My prayer for our whole team is that we experience God deeper and closer than ever, and sustain that new level of relationship with Him after we return.... Please keep praying that the needed funds would come in, and that our team will be able to take care of all the details that are before us in the coming weeks. In 8 weeks from today, we'll all get to meet!!! Yippee....

March 28 , 2006 New focus for journaling---Peru Mission trip!!! So, I found out a couple of weeks ago that I have been selected as one of the leaders for a trip of youth to the Amazon Jungle. This is an amazing opportunity, and one to walk in full faith.... Please let me know if you are interested in partnering with me in prayer or financially, and know that I'll keep my progress posted on here. Peace to you all...

January 4, 2006 I can't believe how long it has been since I've journaled!! Wow... Well, I had a great time in NYC with my family and am about to head back to work... (school breaks are awesome!). I rejoined Weight Watchers a couple months ago, and am managing to lose (even over the holidays), because I do need to get back to my Italy (post-marathon) weight.... So hollar if you ever want to work out!!

May 16, 2004 Turned 30 this week!! And to celebrate this morning I went for my first SKYDIVE!!! WOW, what a rush!! I went with Mile Hi Skydiving, and it was amazing... My instructor was Mike, and he was great. We fell 150 miles per hour from 14,000 feet about Longmont (19000 altitude)... At 5,000 feet the chute was opened, and what a smooth ride from there. Joy was there to cheer us on, and I'll have the pictures tomorrow (video's already done).

I TOTALLY recommend you all try this, it is amazing! And for me next trick... just kidding. I am looking forward to the summer, and have trips back east and to Austin planned. If you are coming to Colorado--let me know, would love to see you!

February 28, 2004 Well, I made it through the month in a cast, but then Thursday I fell down the stairs at school (no, nobody laughed ;-)!! Argh. So, I am thinking I just set back the return to full strength. Haven't even tried jogging yet, but I am back to swimming and other activities. Last night I was with some friends, and one said that it took her ankle a year to get fully back to normal functioning and no pain :-(. Big sadness! I have also had to be very cautious about my food consumption, since I have much less activity to burn it off with. Sigh. My nephews are so great, the other day Dustin called to ask if I can come out for his birthday--that was so sweet!! Hugs to all... I am hoping to get training for the Race the Rockies Tri series this summer, but we'll see...

January 7, 2004 Today I finally got word about this pain I've been having in my foot since July... It turns out I have a torn tendon and a torn ligament. What that means is that I am in a removeable cast for a month :-( ... No running, no racquetball... just healing for this tootsies. Sadness. So... if anyone wants to do an upper-body workout, let me know! And I'm finally a DSL user, so no more busy signals for y'all when calling home. Happy Wednesday. -me

January 4, 2004 2004 has begun with another wassail party at my house, and a number of friends. Over my two week break, I was blessed to see my Skidmore roommate, extended family and dear friends... As the new year begins, I look forward to continuing my first year at GMHS as their social worker, NASW CO events, having fun and enjoying God's presence in all that I do. One of the neat things I was able to do over break in VA was go to the new Smithsonian Air and Space hangar with my family and friend Jim, and that was neat--to see retired aircraft, surveillance tools, spacecraft and learn other aviation history. The cats were well cared for by my neighbor, and I am now working on websites for a couple of folks (let me know if you need help with one). Happy New Year to all, and may God's love and joy towards you be tangible in new and constant ways!

December 16, 2003 With the holidays upon us, I am again reminded of the amazing blessings in my life... For each of you who help me believe in love, make me smile, and show me the beauty of all that's been created. Thanks! Have a safe and happy holiday season with your loved ones. I'll be back east for a bit, and if that means you--hope to catch up! If you're looking for present ideas, check the wishlist ;-)

November 19, 2003 What a busy week! Yesterday I was moved into the NASW Colorado presidency position, and today I found out that Team Diabetes Colorado has been cut :-(. Sad news! Mom was here for a visit last week, and I thoroughly enjoyed a night of entertainment by Kathy Buckley.

October 5, 2003 L'Shanah Tova! Belated happy new year (Rosh Hoshana was last week).. I have been busy getting into my new job, but life is great, and I am doing well. I am excited about possibly doing the Vancouver Marathon (or 1/2, haven't decided yet) 5/2/04, so if you're interested in joining the team, let me know!

September 1, 2003 We had a Team Diabetes party last weekend, and it was great. Sounds like there may be another event next year!! So, if you're interested in joining me, let me know. School (my new job) is going great, and life is sweet... A good friend is going to be coming through town next week, so I am excited about that...

August 24, 2003 Kir, I hope your birthday was great yesterday :-)! Wish I could've partied with you... Well, for everyone who has been wondering, I am settling into my new job at GMHS, and loving it!! The folks there are great, and its fun getting to know all the students I will be working with.

I did my first triathlon 7/20/03 in 1:31:59, which I was very proud of. :-) There are pictures of us on Trish's site from the tri and Creek Sneak.

I had a great trip back east for two weeks, and it was good to see everyone that I did (although it was weird to not see a certain person...). Time with the boys was especially good (they learned how to fence and write their own websites with me!).

July 17, 2003 Wow... tomorrow is my last day at DDHS! Hard to believe, but I am moving on to a High School social work job :-). I am excited! For the 4th I went camping, and this weekend I am doing my first triathlon! I am excited about the development of my congregations website (it is going to be on www.stbm.tv *soon*), and am helping to test that out... Glad to go see my family soon, as well.

May 14, 2003 Thanks to all who made my Birthday a blast yesterday!! Had a great time at the Third Day/ Michael W Smith concert, with a bunch of my friends :-). Saturday's party was also a fun time playing cranium and eating heaps (yes, I went swimming for an hour on Sunday and running Monday to try and negate the effects!). No big news here, just continuing to get out there and work out.

May 6, 2003 Yes, I have continued to run and exercise... I am doing the Bolder Boulder, am registered for a triathlon on 7/20, and am probably going to do the Boulder Backroads half marathon in September. If you haven't seen the Italy pictures, Saturday at my house is a party for that purpose! Come on over..

April 17, 2003 Well, tonight was the reunion party--what a hoot!! These folks are so much fun! For those who wanted to know how to get info, click to get times (enter just last name), pictures of you (my racer number is 11884), and your diploma (last name, first, bib #).

MY PICTURES are available at: Team pictures (mostly people and the marathon), Rome (all of the sights, family, Italy!!), and Pre-Italy (pictures of friends, cats, etc..).

April 6, 2003 (From Colorado) Sigh... I am finally home (after a long 24 hours of travel, uneventful thankfully!), and had a great night's sleep after being cheered into the airport by Ron, Erin and Jess :-) (Thanks, guys!). It was an incredible trip, and I am soo thankful for the opportunity to do something so incredible (raise money for the ADA, run the marathon and go to Italy!!). There are so many highlights, but I have to say finishing the marathon in front of the colleseum was number 1. I'm going to get some groceries and drop off that film, so I should have proof of the trip by the end of the week. For anyone tracking this journal, thanks for your interest. And for all of you supporting me financially and emotionally--big hugs, and thanks on behalf of 17 million Americans with diabetes. Oh, and another $110 came to the house while I was overseas!! Woo-hoo....

April 4, 2003 (From Venice!!) Well, this is our last day here (but my family of course cannot go any longer without email, so I figured I would check mine too--there are some great Team D pictures folks have already sent me). It has been COLD and rainy our last few days, but is drying and warming a tiny bit today, thankfully. We have enjoyed our trip in Siena, and then throught the wine country and Florence (of course a trip to Pisa). Then we drove through Verona (where Juliet and Romeo hail from) and on to Venice. Yesterday we went to Murano (where the famous glassmakers are), and heard a great violin concert (Vivaldi) in the evening...

It has been a great trip, and nice to have so much time with my family. I am missing my kitties and friends back home, though, so it will be good to return tomorrow. If you are back in Colorado--see you soon! If not, know that I am thinking of you, and thanks for all of the prayers and thoughts with regards to these travels. It has been a great trip, and I look forward to telling you each about it in person whenever that time allows! Ciao!

March 28, 2003 (FROM ITALY!!) So, we made it through all of the major sites in Rome (I especially loved the colleseum and the Palatino hill), and headed north through Assisi yesterday. We went to the church of St. Francis, and that was really neat. It is no wonder he celebrated humility, poverty and chastity in such a beautiful place--the presence of God is just all around...

Then we came up to Sienna, and I got a big gulp of international driving! The roads here are just barely large enough for a car, and sometimes there are two! Since the hotel we were heading for did not exist on any of the maps that we had, it was quite an adventure! But I did get us here in one piece, and Siena is a wonderful place, with a bit slower of a pace than Rome. I ran into two of my teammates, Loyal and Joyce, at the Duomo here! Crazy. The food here is wonderful, of course, and the people are great... Tomorrow we're off to Chianti wine country!

March 24, 2003 (FROM ITALY!!) I DID IT!!! I am proud to announce that I have finished my first marathon here in Roma, Italy... There were cobblestones along much of the route (which my blisters will rwmind me of for the coming few days at least..), and water "natural"--without bubbles-- was difficult (if not impossible) to find along much of the route (thank God for my family and Team D support crews!! Kir and Mom and Dad did a good job trekking around the city to sream support, offer water, and those Team D folks kept ringing little cowbells!! hehehe). Anyhew... I finished in a very modest 5 and half hours (well, a little less), but I am still moving, and I feel great! The team altogether (188 people from the US) raised 1.03 million dollars through this event for the ADA!!! WOW. It was an incredibly beautiful course, the people were friendly and fun, and I have seen more of Rome in 5 hours than most see in their whole stay (Colliseum, Mass by the Pope at the Vatican, Spanish Steps, Fount of Trevi, and many more...)

It has been exciting, and a bit emotional as I think about the fact that my physical challenge is over, and for those with diabetes it never ends. If you were a donor for this event--THANK YOU VERY MUCH---And please continue to support diabetes research and advocacy in whatever ways you can. If you would still like to get involved, let me know and I will connect you (smile).

Well, I am off to go explore Italy! My sister, parents and I will be exploring for a week and a half more, and I am looking forward to that. Brandon and Dustin--we are thinking of you, and I am so glad I was able to run for you yesterday (big hugs). Amore de Italia.... -Di

By the way!! The blizzard and its 35" dump on Lakewood almost kept me from getting here on time... thanks to Rich at AAA in Florida, I did make it here. And Saskia and Bob (heroes that they are!!) provided middle-of-the-night taxi service (from Long Island, they got me at Newark!!), bed and yummy food on my 20 hour NYC layover. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!! Thanks again :-).

March 19, 2003 PM update: well, that flight was cancelled, and UAL told me that I wouldn't get to Rome until Sunday (after the marathon!!), and then they were thinking about me driving to Kansas City, MO to get out.... BUT--I now have a flight out tomorrow at 12:20, and I will have a 24 hour layover in NYC. I'll get to Rome just 24 hours before the run, but hey--I'll get to run!!! YEAH! Praise God, I was really stressing out for a while there!

March 19, 2003 Holy snow drifts batman!! Lakewood has gotten 35"of snow!! But the roads are quickly being cleared, so I should hopefully still get out of here on time tomorrow. I went for a run this morning, and wow.. it is just beautiful! Rome, here we come <big grin>... Our original flight has already been cancelled, but Nann and I are rebooked on another flight out tomorrow morning.

March 16, 2003 Okay, so Denver is supposed to get 10-20 inches of snow by Tuesday?! Yikes! I hope that's all cleared out by Thurdsay. With the WHO (world health org.) concern of disease and the talk of war, I continue to covet all of your prayers for safe travels and return :-).

Weather in Rome is supposed to be 41-61(f) on Marathon day (check latest here)--which is perfect! Our last pre-marathon run on Saturday was great (75 degrees out!), just 8 miles.. Boy, are we ready! I can't wait :-).

March 14, 2003 Well, I'm still not fully healed from the sinus infection, but it is getting much better. I have still been able to do all my training runs, which is good. And I am totally pumped for the marathon next weekend!! YEAH!! I am psyched, because someone at work has signed up for the Kona marathon (way to go, Vonn!), so I can share my energy with her... Anyway, catch you later! I've got 8 to do in the morning.

March 8, 2003 Two weeks from tomorrow, I am so excited! I leave 3/20 and return 4/5. The marathon is on 3/23/03 at 9:30 local time. I'll try to get my webpage updated on 3/24 or 25 so you all can hear how I did ;-). I'm hoping this bugger of a sinus infection is gone soon. I am on the antibiotics and MannaTech (tm) supplements, compliments of Sarah. Here's hoping! I did a ten-miler today which felt like a walk in the park....Thank you again for ALL of your support! If you haven't signed the guestbook, please do :-).

March 1, 2003 YEAH--Baby!! We kicked some 20-mile butt this morning :-). Before the snow started falling, we were running in shorts and just kept on running.... Debi, Matt, Suzanne, Robert, Mary Lee, Loyal and the "support crew/coaches" -Robyn and Cindy (thank God for you!!) were out there, and waited around for yours truly to trot on in at the end (and Joyce--thanks for being there despite your injury!!). Wow. Tonight I am just chilling out, and we get to start tapering down our mileage now (no more of these crazy long ones until the real deal!), which I am looking forward to. We didn't just try--we did it!! Go team D ROME!!

"Do or do not. There is no try." --Yoda (let's DO!!)

February 26, 2003 Three weeks from tomorrow, I'm on my way---I am getting so excited... Tonight I did our 8 miler, and it felt so short (isn't that sick?!). The wonders of a brace, arnica oil, Tiger Balm and Ibuprofen have been helping to minimize knee pain, and images of my nephews in my mind overcome the negative thoughts (I just picture their smiling faces, in 4 feet of Virginia snow!?).

" You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.... You must do the thing you cannot do" -Eleanor Roosevelt

February 23, 2003 4 weeks from today!!! Today was incredible! 18 miles in the new snow (and 5 degrees at the start...) this morning were long but rewarding. I am thankful for my new knee brace (just bought it yesterday), and for others who run with me.

The DAY OF BEAUTY at P.S. Hair, too raise $840!!! Thank you to all who supported the effort today and throughout the last year! I am finally going to stop asking you all for money, and now am just getting pumped for the full 26.2 and the trip. Nan and Debi--you're great! Let's here it for 7:20am die hards. Bob and Susanne--thanks for running with me.

If anyone really wants "first hand" support experience in Denver, next week is our 20 mile run (longest before the marathon) next Saturday, call me if you want to come and cheer us on. Good news, Dustin (my younger nephew) is turning 10 next month, and will soon thereafter get his insulin pump. He is excited about it.

February 9, 2003 6 weeks from today!!! I am getting so excited... and a 16 mile run at Teller Farm in Lafayette (near Boulder) yesterday was our longest yet... Amazingly, I am still walking and rather enjoyed the experience of running through the crisp winter air and a bit of snow here and there. Wow, I really am becoming a running addict, huh? Remember to book your spa services for 2/23/03 at P.S. Hair, too salon (720-963-1131). I love this program!! The folks are so much fun, too...

January 26, 2003 We're down to less than 2 months!! BEAUTIFUL weather in Denver today made 14 miles this morning fly by! Bob ran with me today, and that was great, too :-). The plans are firming up, and looking great for the trip... I was a little worried about my knee after a skiing wrench in Taos last weekend, but its doing fine. Let's hear it for ice and ibuprofen!

January 3, 2003 Less than three months left!!! Below are a couple of inspirational quotes passed on by Jaime (thanks, Jaime), and I am feeling great! Another Day of Beauty is scheduled for 2/23/2003, and I am psyched about that. Running in Virginia while home on the holiday was great (although cold!), and I am up to 30+ a week miles..

On days when I can't run, I don't feel myself, and whoever the self is I feel, I don't like nearly so much as the other. -Joyce Carol Oates

Why Do I Run?

It feels so wonderful. I can laugh, talk, and share with my friends. I vent my anger, frustration, boredom, stress and anxiety. It makes me feel good about me. I can do it outside. I can do it inside. It brings me peace. It's so simple. I only need a pair of shoes, a top, and shorts. I don't need instructions. I like to sweat. I have the rarest of moments - time to myself. I don't have to think if I don't want to. Some of the best women I've ever met have been runners. I get results. My legs are stronger. I have endurance. The world looks better when I'm not in a car. I can listen to my breathing. I always feel better when I'm done.

December 17, 2002 I can't believe all this time has gone by without me making an entry!! Well, things are going great! I'm running 25+ miles a week now, and have reached my fundraising goal!! I of course will still try to raise more, but this will free me up to focus on my training :-). Our practice this weekend was great, and I am definitely thrilled about the coaches, the other team members, and this entire program... Woo-hoo!! Now I'm running 6 days a week, and it feels almost required for me now... Next week I'll be with the family, and get to run with Lucky (the dog) again, which is always nice.

November 9, 2002 WOW! What a dynamic group of people :-). This team is going to rock!!! I got out running 5 days last week, and will be doing that from here on in I think!

November 8, 2002 I am SOOO excited about our kick-off practice and party tomorrow :-). I will meet the team (there are 22 people signed up for Team D from Denver going to Rome!!), and "officially" start the physical training program (although I've been running 20+ miles a week already). Woo-hoo, here we go! Also, I received a few more donations this week, so I am up to 85% funded, almost there!! I'll let you know how it all goes...

October 22, 2002 Waterton Canyon this weekend was excellent! Went on a 12.5 mile run (yes, I took a nap afterward!), and submitted a couple of grant applications. Fundraising has been slow lately, but I am optimistic about the grants. Meantime, check out my "rebate advertisers" (Sportsbasement, Diabetes Store, and EHarmony) on various pages, these all generate donations as well.

October 14, 2002 Had a great two hour run this weekend, feeling good about the training. Met a few more teammates--great people! This group is going to rock--we start our official training schedule in a couple weeks :-). That'll be awesome!!

October 6, 2002 I did the Race or the Cure this morning (5k) --and finally did it under 30 minutes! 29:01 to be exact. The fundraising is up to $3883, almost there! I was sick this week, but am starting to finally feel better.

September 29, 2002 Well, I collected over $300 in donations this weekend, and am up to 76% of my goal! The half marathon went well this morning (2:37:21), although a bit slower than I would have liked, and I'm feeling good. Have a great week, and I'll check in next weekend!

September 26, 2002 Hey everyone! The fundraising should get a big boost this and next weekends, as there is a homeowners yard sale Saturday 8am-1pm across from my house, and then I will be outside King Soopers 9/29 (after the Boulder Backroads half marathon) and 10/6. Come on by and show your support! The physical training is going well, I'm up to 12 mile long runs on my weekends, with 3-4 other workouts each week (usually 4-6 miles each). Last weekend Joy and Dave joined me for runs at the NASW board retreat in the mountains, it was great.

August 28, 2002 Successful Day of Beauty and King Soopers fundraisers were held in the last couple of weeks, and I have begun running the steps at Red Rocks Tuesdays and Thursdays with my friend Angie. It is a sick kind of pleasure :-). Watching the sunrise and enjoying the cool of the day while working my muscles and gearing up. Its great! Feel free to come join me sometime... In fact, I think I am going to start posting all my workouts if you ever want to join, let me know and I'll tell you where that is.

August 14, 2002 8/18/02 will be a day of beauty at P.S. Hair, Too salon. $80 for two services and hors d'hoerves (tax-deductible), call today to schedule at 720-963-1131. I am looking forward to this, and hoping we have a good turn out. I had a great time in NY, and went running by the lake on vacation last week! You'll notice that the donations continue to come in, and the training is going well... I am gearing up for the Boulder Backroads half marathon at the end of September, and continuing to bring in those donations....

July 22, 2002 Okay, sorry for the long lapse in entries... I've been pretty busy setting up the Day of Beauty, hiking last weekend, and then dealing with a cold. Did a 10 mile run a couple of weeks ago, but with the cold have been off my feet for a bit. I have a training date with a friend tomorrow, though. 8/18/02 will be a day of beauty at P.S. Hair, Too salon. $80 for two services and hors d'hoerves (tax-deductible), call today to schedule at 720-963-1131. COMING SOON--ONLINE DONATIONS!! I am just checking one detail w/ADA, and then it will be functional, I hope.

June 27, 2002 Had a great 9 mile run this morning, and the Pampered Chef party went well (orders accepted through Thursday!!). Don't know the finally tally, but 15% of orders will go to ADA, and so far it looks like at least $120 or so... The next fundraiser will be a day of beauty, and of course donations are still needed and plushland beanie bears (I love you, patriotic, and Team D) are on sale for $5. There's plenty of ways to give!! Also, Sports Basement is a great store in San Francisco with low prices on equipment--and I set up a referral (only works from my webpage). 10% OF YOUR PURCHASES WILL BE REFUNDED through me and DONATED TO TEAM DIABETES!! So shop Pampered Chef, shop Sports basement, get stuff you need, and help the team ;-). Ooh, I also have a friend who is interested in joining Team D--its been an exciting week. Happy trails to all, and I'll check in again soon (when I get the total for that donation).

June 12, 2002 Looking forward to the Pampered Chef Party a week from Sunday... And the funds keep coming in. I'm starting to sell the beanie bears, but having set up a booth anywhere with them yet. Running with the team 6/2 was awesome! Glad to have a coach like Dan, and I'm enjoying the training, although the smoke here lately has been horrible from the fires. Thanks for all your support.

May 30, 2002 Wow, where did May go?? The weather's been great in Colorado, and I have definitely been enjoying that. Running 3 times a week and also working on that strength training. I got to run in the Redwoods in California last weekend, and have some friends at work who are helping stay motivated :-). I am looking forward to the Pampered Chef benefit party 6/23 (if you want to buy things and have the proceeds go to ADA, let me know!), and fundraising is coming along well. Thanks for encouraging me Kir, Del, Micah, Shanna, and others!

April 30, 2002 Training, it is a beautiful thing!! I ran in MA, NY, and CO over the past two weeks (as I was travelling, and then back home). Micah and I ran the 5 mile Cherry Creek Sneak Sunday, and I took minutes off last years time! WW is going well, and I hope to have my car back by next week. Here comes May--my favorite month :-).

April 15, 2002 Happy Tax Day--I hope its not too painful for any of you :-(... Remember, donations are tax-deductible! I have determined that theft is bad for my health... my car was stolen last Sunday (yes, it is back and being fixed), and I've been bad about eating and exercise, but yesterday I got back "on the wagon", and put in a 6 mile run (oh, the weather was beautiful!!). Thanks for your continued support, check out the fundraising page to see how its going.

April 6, 2002 Wow--you guys have truly started to show your support!! $410 donated to date, and climbing :-). It is so neat to see checks coming in from all over the country (MA to CA!). This week, I got in two runs and skiing, and then some strength training as well. My feet had some work done on them, but I should be back running by Tuesday hopefully.

March 26, 2002 Another good week, got in two runs and a strength workout. The funds are starting to come in, and I am getting excited about doing some special events as well. WW is still going great, past the 20 pound mark (and 10%), and have just 9 more to lose.

March 20, 2002 What a great weekend I just had. I went to VA to visit my family, go to a baby shower and celebrate Dustin's birthday. Two of my good friends had their baby Friday! Training is going well. I got back into my strength training yesterday, walked often this weekend, and ran a couple of times. The funds have also started coming in! Thank you for your support.

March 8, 2002 I did weigh in down another 1.2 this week, so I am just 1.2 away from my ten percent loss! Maybe I can actually reach my lifetime goal by May--that would be great. Well, this week has been crazy at work, but I had a nice run on Sunday, a few miles around the lake Monday, and I'm planning to go to the gym tonight. I meet with my fundraising guru for Team D next week, and after that I'll get my letters sent out to everyone (keep your eyes on those mailboxes!). Have a great weekend.

February 28, 2002 Woo-hoo!!! I passed my LCSW test today :-). I am now a licensed social worker--yeah! Just six more months and I'll have my LCSW. My weigh in this week was down 1.2 lbs.... back to the beginning of my plateau. Now that I am done studying, I can focus on eating right and exercising again. Went running tonight, and plan to get in two workouts this weekend. Back on the road again....

February 20, 2002 Argh... the plateu continues. But I will not let up! Running on Wednesdays at work (as schedule allows) during the lunch hour, and getting at least two other work-outs in each week.

February 15, 2002 Hello all.... I sent in my registration today for Team Diabetes, and am now preparing for a marathon on 3/23/03!! I am going to raise a bunch of money for the ADA, but that is the least worrisome part of this feat ;-). I have been on Weight Watchers since September, and lost 17 pounds, but now I've been plateuing for a month. I would like to be 12 pounds lighter for this marathon (and most of the training!), so I really need to stay on-program. I am so thankful for a supportive sister and other friends who help keep me on-task.
When I told Kir that I am doing this, she jumped right in and wants to come to Italy and cheer me on! She is also going to help me design a "team t-shirt!" w/ the boys' names on it and everything. How cool... Well, I ought to get going, it's the beginning of a long weekend, and I need to start enjoying.
