Song:"Somewhere Over The Rainbow"

Our Tribute To Sandy

Oh, so many years ago we went and got a pup.
A little sandy colored thing, we couldn't pass him up!
Our children were delighted that they had this little friend,
And as they grew together, the laughter had no end.

We couldn't help but love him as he ran around the yard,
Barking at the squirrels and such, he played so very hard!
And it was in the kids' beds that he'd curl up to sleep.
Promising to keep them safe, a promise he would keep.

Sure as autumn fades to winter, ol' Sandy's eyes grew dim.
And very soon we learned he couldn't hear us calling him.
He whined with every movement, pain was present in his eyes.
I fell upon my knees and prayed, "Please help me to be wise!"

It wasn't fair to make our old friend suffer in the end,
Yet the alternate solution seemed too cruel to comprehend.
We knew that he deserved the best for his fourteen faithful years,
And I made the hard decision through at least a thousand tears.

So now we say goodbye to you, our ever faithful friend.
And shattered as they are, please know our hearts are going to mend.
For though you're gone , you left behind a legacy of love.
And we'll forever thank the Father that He sent you from above!
