WILL OF JOHN BONNER
Will Bk. F, p. 445, Sussex Co., VA.

In name of God, amen! I John Bonner, Senr. Of Albermarle Parrish in Sussex County being of disposing mind and memory thanks be to almighty God for same do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following - first I recommend my Soul to God who gave it me and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors and as touching such world goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose thereof in the following manner.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son JOHN BONNER two negroes namely David and Shadrach which Shadrach he hath now in possession, with all that he hath of mine in his possession to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son ROBERT HIX BONNER two negroes namely Billey and Jeffery which he hath now in possession with an that he hath besides of mine in his possession to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son THOMAS BONNER one negro named Jerry, and at the death of his mother all my lands with all that he hath besides of mine in his possession to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter ELIZABETH LOVE, one negro named Milley with all that she hath besides of mine in her possession with the increase of the said Negro from this date to her and her heirs forever and the use of one Negro named Berry during her life, and at her death I give the said negro to my grandson JOHN LOVE to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter PHEBE BROWN two Negroes namely Sam and Bobb with all that she hath of mine in her possession to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter PATTEY RAINEY two Negroes namely Jim and Vinea with all that she hath besides of mine in her possession to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter SELAH FOX one Negro named Beb with all that she hath of mine in her possession to her and her heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter JANE HARPER two Negroes namely London & Jules with their increase from this date with all that she hath of mine in her possession to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter MARGRAT BATTS on condition that she payeth or causeth to me paid unto my executs one hundred dollars to enable them to pay my Debts and Legacees, the use of five Negroes during her life. Namely, Sucek, Jeff, Hanner, Pilles and Sylvia and at her death I give the said Negroes and their increase from this date to be equally divided amongst her children to them and their heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter LUCY GARY one Negro named Lucy to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my grand son RIGHT IRWIN BONNER when he comes of age or marieth one hundred dollars.

Item: I give and bequeath to my grand son JAMES WILBOURNE one Negro named Randol to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my grand son ROBERT RANEY one Negro named Jeffery to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my grand son JOHN HARPER one Negro named Abram to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my two grand daughters ELIZA LOVE and POLLY ALLEN ten pounds each to them and their heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my three grandaughters when they come of age or marry, namely BECKEY B. WILBOURNE, SALLEY WILBOURNE and PATSEY WILBOURNE ten pounds each to them and their heirs forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my loving wife SARAH BONNER two negroes name Doll and little Hanner, and two of her choice of my feather beds and furniture to her and her heirs forever-and the use of all my land and three Negroes named Ned, old Hanner, and Nanny with al the residue of my estate of what kind soever during her life, and at her death my will and desire is that all I have left my wife the use of except - the land, be equally divided amongst all my children that shall be living, all of which I give to them and their heirs forever.

Item: And lastly I constitute and appoint my three sons, JOHN BONNER, ROBERT HIX BONNER and THOMAS BONNER whole and sole executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made and Declairing this and only this to be my land Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have herewith set my Seal this twenty eighth day of May one thousand eight hundred and two.

(Note: John Bonner, Senr was, no doubt, ill at the time of this will, since he signed with a mark, and not his signature, as he signed deeds prior to this date with his name and seal.)

At a Court held for Sussex County the 6th day of December 1804 The last will and testament of John Bonner Senior was presented into Court by John Bonner Junior one of the executors therein named the same was proved by the oaths of Robert Jones and John Fires two of the Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded----And on motion of said executor who made Oath and gave bond and Security agreeable to law Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form----
