Hi everybody ! . I hope you enjoy yourself here .
You'll learn about me here seen through my dad's eyes .
Although I would love to be here that's not possible
so here's dad.
Welcome to my son Philip's web site . I have dedicaited this to the memory of wonderful young man that never got the chance to grow and be what he could or wanted be .
Do to an unfortunate accident Phillip is no longer with us .
He
died on the 20th of December 1998
at age of
11
Phillip was born inLahr, Germany on the
1st of Janaury 1987 Yes a New years baby the second in the hospital that morning
His grandmother had come from Canada for the great event.Philip as babies go was small , just over 5 lbs and 47 cm long .For the first few monthes he remained tiny . About the third month he was eating almost hourly till we changed his formal and from then on  he never stopped growing. At about seven month we took Philip to the doctor and found out he had a problem with his feet but it could be rigthed easly but placing casts on his legs and feet. He real liked that . He quickly found out that he could lift the legs in the casts and bag them together and make loud noises that would of course keep momma and poppa a wake all night . The first cast lasted the longest about a week. He had to keep them on for a couple of monthes. With his feet corrected the next step seemed so natural walking. Philip never real learned to walk till he was 5. Not because he couldn't he just went from crawl to standing to a couple of steps to run. All in about 5 days. No lies he just amazed us and other parents . As Gesila(Philip's mom) and I both worked we had to have a baby sitter for him. The first one Philip well didn't real care for. So Gesila asked around . Living in Germany in a small place (30,000 people) everybody knows just about everbody . Well we struck gold! A woman in the apartmen just around the corner with 3 kid's of her own and
need to make some extra money. For the nest 4 1/2 years Phillip wes like the baby brother. He spent almost as much time at their place as at home. Being apeople personPhilip love being aroundanyone who would pay hime attention. He loved being before a camera. He could make anyone laugh or smile. Philip Discovered how much fun water was in the bath tub. Soon he was into the deeper stuff. Trying to keep him out soon be cam hard work .
One day about the age of five Philip said he wasn't feeling well.  It continued all day. When I went topick him up we decided to take him to the doctors, As a precation teh doctor sent him for an exmanation to the Krankhuas. An hour later Philip was recovering from apendisitis. Little did the people there knwo what they were in for. After the frist day they couldn't keep himin his room . All the nurses loved him and the doctors could have killed him. He was never in his room or where he should have been. In 1992 The Government of Canada decided to close the bases in Europe. Well the question became what to do ?  Stay in Germany and work there or come home. We had a good life there andlots of friends but no family. So Getting home ward pangs as having only visited twice since going to Gremany I wanted to move home. On Jan 3rd 1993 Phil and I arrived at Vancouver International Airport after 30 some odd hours of travel . Of course he wouldn't sleep so you figure you would have one tired  upset boy on your hands . Well quess again . He was all excited and happy . He was going see his omma again . Philip had no idea what hot dogs , hambergs, were till that night . Well that created a hamberg monster . It quickly became one of his favorite foods . Philip had always like water . He started swimming lessons and in the next two years learned to swim correctly. Shortly after arriving and getting a place Philip met two boys . There was a pool in the complex. Well these three decide to play in the pool . This was in Febuary and none of the kd's could swim . In away it is one of my favorite memories of Philip . His love of others and his willingness to do  and try new things. Philip started Kindergarden that year at Stone Creek Community School and would attend that school until his death in Dec of 1998. Philip had to learn English upon arriving here in Vancouver. Philip being Philip that was managed in short order. In no time he was speaking Enbglish as if he was born here. Philip had several problems at school . He could not pay attention for long streches of time . He also had reading problems that he was over coming but for all this Philip was doing well in school. His favorite classes were gym and art . He like sports and would do just about anything to play. He was  choosen for the school basket ball team that year, before his accident. Philip like to go  to the driving range or play around of golf with me . When we first came to Vancouver I bought him a kid's set of clubs . He got a lot of use out of them .Philip was a happy childern . He enjoyed being with friends or family . Philip loved going to his Grandmothers where he met several boys and made friends.
When the pool was open you could find him there doing his fish thing. We both hope you will enjoy your visit here
