Here are the answers to the questions that I get most often.

Feel free to email with questions not answered here.

Q: What got you interested in this subject.
I don't know, I have had an interest ever since junior high when girls were getting their ears pierced, and the teachers warned them about " Permanently changing their ears ".

Q: Why did you make this site?
I had a single page on the topic that I was able to gather the search string that people would use to get to it. I discovered that there was lot of interest in the topic, but did not get many comments. It seems that this is an interest to that vast silent majority, of people with basic values. And that those are not the people to scream in the media about the topic, but have strong personal feelings. The media often portrays this as a time to throw away what doesn't fit our current needs. With all of that I spent several months searching the web and newsgroups on the topic and did not find very much information. So I decided to try and collect information and place it on a single site.

Q: What types of things fit this topic?
There are all kinds of thing and I would like to hear about other symbols that people use. While wedding rings are important symbols, they are removable and very common, so I do not include them. Jewelry pieces that have special closing features, such as the Cartier Love Bracelet, do fit because they are designed for long term wear. Bracelets, Necklaces, chains, that have been soldered, or clasps removed are definitely included. Of course tattoos fit well into the permanent category, but I will include them only with the meaning behind them. In other words.. tattoos that are simply for decoration, or " do not fit.

Q: Do you have one?
Tattoo, No. Permanent Jewelry, Yes I have worn a custom made permanent bangle style bracelet that was brazed together, for several years. Love it.
