The
Stracener
Family

My connection with the Stracener family begins with my Great-Great Grandfather, Benjamin Kneal "Nick" Stracener. He was born in Louisiana in 1874, the 4th child of Benjamin Neal Stracener & Martha Ann Cole.

Thanks to some other Stracener descendants, this family has been well-researched. A short family history is included in the book "History Of Beauregard Parish, Louisiana".

The family is assumed to have come from Germany. A Henry Strayson is found on the 1790 Census for the Morgan District, Lincoln County, Pennsylvania.

The family moved into Tennessee & is found on the 1805 tax roles for Roane County. He is listed as Henry Strossoner.

There were believed to be 4 sons born to Henry; Henry Jr being my direct ancestor. It is believed that he married a Susannah Knight in Franklin County in 1812. After the births of 2 sons, the family made its way to St. Clair County, Alabama, where their remaining children were born.
