Bear Den 3 - Does Not Compute

Bear Den 3 members spent a den meeting performing science experiments. The experiments performed were "Float the Egg", "Raising the Raisins", "Using Oxygen" and "Making a Fire Extinguisher". Before each experiment, each boy guessed what might happen with each experiment. Then, the guesses were compared to the actual results. The scientific explanation and intended outcome for each experiment was revealed after the completion of each test. The only experiment that did not work according to the intended outcome was "Float the Egg". The egg was supposed to float below the water line and above the brine (mixture of salt and water) line. Our egg sank! We learned a lot about the formation of carbon dioxide and its effect on fire and the density of gas and water. We also had a lot of fun!
