- Center for Career Development in
Early Care and Education - In 1991, The Center for Career Development in Early Care
and Education at Wheelock College was founded to improve the quality of early care and
education for children by creating a viable career development system for early childhood

- National Child Care Information Center - The Child Care
Bureau was established in the Administration for Children and Families, Department of
Health and Human Services, in January 1995, to administer federal child care programs to
states, territories, and tribes for low-income children and families. The Bureau has
initiated a variety of activities to improve the quality, availability, and affordability
of child care across the country. Among those activities is the sponsorship of the
National Child Care Information Center.
- National Institute on Out-of-School Time
(formerly the School-Age Child Care Project) - The National Institute on
Out-of-School Time's mission is to improve the quantity and quality of school-age care
programs nationally by concentrating in five primary areas: research; education and
training; consultation; program and community development; and public awareness. For
almost twenty years, NIOST staff have served children, parents, child care program staff,
school principals and supervisors, community leaders and government officials.

- Food and Nutrition Center - The Food and
Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) is one of several information centers at the National
Agricultural Library (NAL), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), United States Department
of Agriculture (USDA). The FNIC home page is a great place to start your Internet search
for nutrition information. The food and human nutrition materials at the NAL consist of
books, journals, and audiovisuals covering a broad range of topics from children's
literature to technical nutrition information. FNIC also distributes resource lists and
bibliographies on various nutrition topics. The NAL provides direct lending services to
persons working for the U.S. Congress, libraries, and information centers.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), within the Department of Health and
Human Services (HHS) is responsible for federal programs which promote the economic and
social well-being of families, children, individuals, and communities. Through its federal
