CHESTNUTS / CASTAGNAS

or in the oven on Ann Street...

It's that time of year!

With the point of a sharp knife, make a cross on the flat side of the chestnut, cutting through the layer of shell.
Place on cookie sheet, cross side up.
Bake in preheated 375º oven for approximately 40-50 minutes.
Chestnuts are done when cross opens up and meat inside looks a little brown.
Remove from oven, take the shell off, and enjoy.

Shells peel best when still warm.
Reheat leftovers in microwave or toaster oven.
