Hi! We are the Theopistos pair-Mike on the left and I, Pat, am on the right. Just call me the Good News Lady. Welcome to our Family Homepage. On this page I am adding links to several other sites on the Web that may possibly be of interest to you. Should you wish to contact us, our e-mail address is Jtheopisto@aol.com.

If you have an interest in Christian Ministry-you might like my son's site located at http://berean.org/theoart. You can see his illustrated Bible verses and he has links to many more sites by Christians or Christian groups. He even has a mailing list for his pictures. He also has done much in the way of sci-fi art and is the author of a spaghetti western short story called Wayward Pass. It may still be accessible on the Internet, but I haven't looked for it since last year.

Are you into genealogy research? I have been interested in researching several family names with a bit of side research into non-immediate families. See my page at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Garden/2772 for information on the following families: Niemann; Neumann; Draehn, Drahn, Drähn--the last three of those are variant spellings of the same name-- Newman, Kelly, Gibson, Lucas, and last, but not least, Theopistos. Only information on the Neumanns and Draehns are given in any detail on the Heartland/Garden/2772 page. Over time I will be adding more on the rest of the names. There are a couple of sites on the internet that have some family history on Drahns-one bunch from Waco, Texas,/Stone County, Missouri ( see the following web site for info on these Drahns-- http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/d/r/a/Paul );

the other bunch settled in Iowa (the website you want for Iowa Drahns is -- http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/g/r/a/Deeanna-A-Granston.) When you look at that site-go to the links for Draehn-Drahns that DeeAnna has on that page. I discovered that the Texas Draehns are related to the Iowa Drahns. Go to my other geocities page -Heartland/Garden/2772-and you will learn the connection between the two groups.

To learn more about the Kelly, Gibson, Lucas, and Newman lines I am related to, go to http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/t/h/e/Patricia-M-Theopistos/. In time I will be putting the Gibson and Lucas info I have on my Heartland/Garden site. I have not as of spring of 99 inputted this info into my computer.

Among my interests are (as you guessed) genealogy, cooking, gardening, fishing, prison ministry and evangelism, Bible study, reading ancient history including archeological discoveries, reading mysteries, and some knitting and crocheting, and, of course, getting on the computer. I just came up with an excellent recipe for Chiles Rellenos that I don't think anyone has thought of. E-mail me if you would like a different one than you usually see. I also make a mean (or great) Spinach Pie. Will be glad to give you that recipe too.

My husband, Mike, on the other hand, is more interested in teaching computer courses at San Antonio College-he loves that; he also enjoys cooking, deer hunting, reloading, target practice with regular rifles as well as muzzle loaders, prison ministry, plus staying in excellent shape through exercise. By the way San Antonio College's Computer Information Systems Department is one of the best in the country. If you would like to learn more about what SAC offers, contact Mike at jtheopis@accdvm.accd.edu and I know he would be glad to whatever questions he can or tell you who to talk to. Also if you want to know more about the prison ministry-you can also reach him there at his office regarding prison ministry or at the other e-mail address we have written above in the first paragraph.

Perhaps you are wondering about our last name, Theopistos. It is Greek, and if you know Greek, you know what it means and why I am so proud to wear it. Mike's father was an immigrant to the US back in approximately 1920. His father was Demetrios Michael Theopistos from the town of Ioannina in the province of Epirus in northwestern Greece. We have only been able to learn a little about his father's family, but one of the things we did learn, when we went to Greece one year, was that Mike's grandfather was originally named Bakalis and he took the Theopistos name at the bride's insistence. We had also heard that at the time of the engagement, the bride was already a young, childless widow, so if that is actually true, the only reason we have Theopistos for our last name is due to the bride's insistence on the groom taking her last name instead of the other way around. (I plan this year to put the names of Mike's father's family on the Internet for genealogy search purposes.) We hope someday to make another trip to Greece-we really loved it. The various museums and historical sites held the greatest interest, and of course we both enjoyed the great Greek food, some of which I started learning how to cook back when I first got married.

If anyone reading this page is familiar with our last name from somewhere, but haven't met us, please contact us by e-mail and let us know how you came across the name. Our son is the only other Theopistos I know of that gets on the Internet, so barring him & his wife and us, I don't know if you will find any other person with our last name on the internet.

You may be wondering if I have only one offspring. I was blessed with two. My daughter, however, is not into computers, although her husband has been learning computer graphics at a rapid rate and is in the process of designing some video games. If you have an interest in video game design, he would enjoy hearing from you. You can contact him at croaker@airmail.net.

Thank you, GEOCITIES for this web page space.
