Obituary:

The lengthing shadows for the past few days have admonished the family and friends that death was stealthily approaching Mrs. Fred Connett, nee Cummins, and this noon at 12:20 o'clock the summons came and the young life went out.
There is no family in Elkhart where the dread messenger would cause keener anguish at the sundering of close ties than in the family of J. W. Cummins. their daughter Fanny was at once a daughter, a companion and an idol. With unusually bright faculties, affectionate, earnest and devoted to her parents, she had made her place in the home circle one that cannont be filled even by the little bit of humanity she left behind. Possessed of peculiarly winning ways Fanny Cummins made friends of all who knew her intimately. She was warmly affectionate when her affections were once one, and her friendship once given was never relinquished. Her death will strike sorrow to many hearts, and her parents will find many sympathetic mourners at her bier.
It is hard to reconcile the calling away of a life so interwoven with other lives, when youth and age remain, and it is especially trying to chronicle these sad events. but we feel that in the coming and going of Mrs. Connett some purpose has been accomplished, and like the flower that remains long after the decay of form that produced it, her loveliness will remain to influence the hearts of others.
