Blessings and Prayers
God hath not promised skies always blue
Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through
God hath not promised sun without rain
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain
But God hath promised strength for the day
Rest for the labour, light for the way
Grace for the trials, help from above
Unfailing sympathy, undying love.
IRISH BLESSINGS
May there always be work for your hands to do
May your purse always hold a coin or two
May the sun always shine on your window pane
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain
May the hand of a friend always be near you
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you
Four corners to her bed
Four angels at her head
Mark, Matthew, Luke and John
God bless the bed that she lies on.
New moon, new moon, God bless me
God bless this house and family.

A Traveller's Prayer
When facing a great distance
And hills that I must climb
Let me take the journey
One step at a time
Though it's hard to bid farewell
To loved ones left behind
May the thought of my return
Be foremost in my mind
If I've taken a wrong turning
And somehow gone astray
Let me keep my faith and courage
And safely find my way
Though some would count the journey
By the hours or by its trials
Let me count the friends I've made
While travelling across the miles.

A DOG'S PRAYER
Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.
When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... For I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... Though had you no home in all the land...
For you are my god... And I am your devoted worshiper.
Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me clean food, that I may stay well to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather, hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...
And I will leave you knowing with the last breath I draw, my fate was ever safest in your hands.
Apache Wedding Blessing
Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no loneliness for you, now there is no more
loneliness.
Now you are two persons but there is one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place, to enter into the days of your togetherness.
And may your days be good and long upon the earth.
COMPUTER PRAYER
Every night I lie in bed,
this little prayer inside my head.
God bless my mom and dad,
and bless my children.
And take care of my husband,
he brings me so much joy...
And, God, there's just one more thing
I wish you would do.
If you don't mind my asking,
to bless my 'puter too?
Now I know that it's not normal
to bless a small machine,
But listen just a second,
and I'll try to explain...
You see, that little metal box
holds more than odds and ends.
Inside those small components
rest a hundred loving friends.
Some, it's true, I've never seen,
and most I've never met.
We've never shaken hands or
even hugged, and yet...
I know for sure they love me,
by the kindnesses they give.
And this little scrap of metal
is how I get to where they live.
By faith is how I know them,
much the same as I know you.
I share in life it brings them
so if it's ok with you...
Just take an extra minute
from your duties up above...
To bless this little hunk of steel
that's filled with so much love.
MORE HELP!
Dear Lord
So far today, God, I've done all right.
I haven't gossiped, havent lost my temper,
haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish,
or over-indulged. I'm very thankful for that.
But in a few minutes, God, I'm going to get out of bed,
and from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot more help.
Amen
I Asked God
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn to obey.
I asked God for health, that I might do greater things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for--but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered
I am, among all men, most richly blessed.
