A Firefighter's Prayers
When I am called to duty,God
Wherever flames may rage.
Give me strength to save a life
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is to late.
or save an older person from
The horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
And hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me
To gaurd my every neighbor and
Protect his property.
And if according to your will
While on duty I must answer death's call
Bless with your protectig hand
My family one and all.
#2 FIREFIGHTERS PRAYER
Oh lord please help this firefighter to be skillfull and brave.
Please let me never falter when there are lives to save.
Be with my fellow firefighters and ride with us on each run,
from the moment that we "suit-up"untill the job is done.
Be with me as I guide a child through the dark and smokey haze,
Give me strength and courage as I fight the deadly blaze.
Lord I put my saftey in your hands,But in the chaos and the strife,
Help me act with selfless courage.God just let me save a life.
Amen.

These firefighter poems were sent to me by Sarah Holland. Her husband is a firefighter in the city of Huntsville, AL. She did not know who the author was but they hold a special place in her heart.
The Fire
An article in National Geographic several years ago provided a penetrating
picture of God's wings. After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park,
forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage.
One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched
statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the
eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he struck it,
three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings.
The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her
offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings,
instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise.
She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies.
When the blaze had arrived and the heat had singed her small body, the
mother had remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die, so
those under the cover of her wings would live.
(He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find
refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart). Psalm 91:4 --
