Blade Veteran Taken By Death

F.H. Kininger, 74, of 718 Belmont Avenue, who helped to keep the written record of Toledo for half a centruy, died in his home Wednesday night.  He was the oldest employee in point of service on the Toledo Blade payroll.

One of the pioneer members of the Typographical Union, Mr. Kininger joined the Blade as a printer 50 years ago and seved the paper faithfully until about a year ago when he became ill and was confined to his home.

The Typographical Union was formed in 1863 and Mr. Kininger became a member in 1873.  He served as president of Toledo Typographical Union No. 63 and was elected several times as delegate to the International Union.  He was also a member of Toledo Concord Lodge No.20, Knights of Pythias.

Mr. Kininger was a keen follower of sports and was especially interested in the prize ring and old-time fighters of the John L. Sullivan clan.

His father, Joseph KININGER, was at one time Street Commisioner of Toledo

The body was taken to the Foth A. Son Funeral Home, 527 Nebraska Avenue.

Funeral services, which have not been completed, will be held Saturday with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Kininger is survived by his wife, daughter, Mrs. G.N. Deck of Detroit; three sisters, Mrs. Hison of Ellsworth, KS, Mrs. O'Donnell and Mrs. Charles G. Wilson of Jacksonville, FL, and four grandchildren.
