Road Bond Task Force Notes
September 8, 1999

79th Avenue is one of five minor collector streets on the road bond short list. It has a Gus Duenas priority of 4 on a scale of 1 to 11.

At some time in the past, the residents of Watkins Avenue rejected the City's attempt to widen their street. They argued that a wider street would encourage faster traffic. How did they persuade the City to accept a narrow street? Watkins is one of the minor collectors chosen for road improvements. They may have sidewalks and a bike path added as part of the new plan.

The amount of the road bond will be approximately $25M. The total cost for all the projects is $27,296,319.

There will be two more meeting of the task force before the final selection of projects. The next meeting will be September 29th.

The City will make a public presentation of Duenas's projects on October 20th in the City's water building. Task force members will be present to answer questions and listen to comments.

The task force's final report to the City Council will be made and adopted on December 7th.
