I am still looking for information on my great grandfather Armstrong McGuire. He married my Synthia madeline Mowls/Mowles/Moules etc. around 1860-1861. They had 4 children: Wiliam Riley McGuire b 1862, Bolden McGuire(no middle name) b 1865, Tarlton Brown McGuire (my grandfather) b 1868, and Elizabeth Aker (Betty) McGuire b Sept. 1870. Since the first child was named William, maybe Armstrong is really Armstrong William McGuire or William Armstrong McGuire. I noticed a William A. McGuire in your line, but you said he never got married. My Armstrong died during the first few months of 1870 because great grandmother marries a Zachariah Taylor Robertson on May 1, 1870 stating she was a widow. Since Armstrong McGuire's 4th child was born in Sept. 1870, he had to be around during the first months of 1870 to impregnate Synthia. I think he may have been married before. Have you come across this McGuire in your search?

What a wonderful site! I really enjoyed the whole thing and love the music. Our grandmother was Jane McGuire of Rowan County, N.C. who was born about 1765, daughter of Timothy McGuire. She married Thomas Bell a Revolutionary War participant. So far I have ben unable to determine who Timothy was. He is listed on land records, but never with a wife.
