RESIDENCES:
RECORD OF SERVICE: Enlisted 26 May 1863, Harrisonburg, Va. as a private in Co. H, 12th Virginia Cavalry. Present Sept./Oct. 1863 - Mar./Apr. 1864. Carelessly lost a Burnside carbine, Nov./Dec. 1863, the price of which ($35.00) was held against his pay. AWOL Jul./Aug. 1864. Unofficial source (Virginia State Library Records) state that he deserted. Paroled in Staunton, Va. 12 June 1865; 6'0", fair complexion, brown eyes, light hair.
OBITUARY extracts - From Confederate Veteran Magazine 1926: George K. Fitch, who died April 6, served with a company formed in Augusta County, and which was attached to the 12th Virginia Cavalry, Rosser's Brigade. He was a member of the Methodist Church, South, and a prominent Mason; aged eighty-two years.
