RESIDENCES: A resident of Leaksville District #2 in 1860, Page Co., Va.
RECORD OF SERVICE: Enlisted 22 Jul 1861 as 2nd sergeant Co. I, 97th Virginia Militia. Enlisted again? in the 97th on 4 Nov 1861. Discharged 15 Mar 1862 and transferred to the Dixie Artillery. Records contradict, however, and show that he enlisted in the Dixie Artillery on 21 Jun 1861. Enlisted 9 Jan 1863 in Co. C, 39th Battalion Virginia Cavalry. 3rd corporal. Responsible for setting up the perimeter around General Robert E. Lee's headquarters at Gettysburg. Present through Dec. 1864. No further record.
POSTWAR INFORMATION: Director of the Page Valley National Bank in Luray. Member of the Rosser-Gibbons Camp, UCV, Luray.
