They are the most beautiful companions. I found a tiny 5 week old kitten in a gutter on a busy road one day and I am positive she is a van, she is now nearly two years old. Everything about her from childhood up, her looks and personality traits are the s me as the purebreeds, with one exception, she has green eyes. Do vans have green eyes? Kim

Hi, I am an american living in Turkey and 2 months ago some turkish friends gave me what they said was a Van cat. He is all white, odd-eyed, with a patch of dark on the top of his head. I have a turkish van x turkish angora.I must say he has one of the most remarkable personalities I have seen in a cat!He is obstinate and has a tendancy to clear off on his travels for days on end, only returning when he is so tired or hungry and requires a brief respite period.I only became interested in both breeds about a year ago and I am looking in to the possibility of buying a Van.

Had a Turkish "vandelight" (probably not purebred) but THE most WONDERFUL cat I've ever had. She was extremely sick when I got her off the street and 5 months later passed away which broke both my heart and my daughters. She really made a hit with us. id not know at the time that Vans were a particular breed. Now that I know, want to own another one.

I am owned by a 6 year old cat who looks suspiciously like these Turkish Vans. I saw a picture of one in a cat book and was surprised that my Lillie (who was a "pound cat" before she adopted me) looked so much like it. I had never seen these kind of markings before. She has what we call "bunny fur" that everyone loves to pet. She has an orange head and tail. Her face is not as "sleek" as the pictures I am seeing here but she has chubby cheeks. She's about 10lbs. (that's small here, 2 other cats share joint ownership of me and they are both 15 to 18 lbs each.....they're really very small mooses.0 ANYWAY.....Lillie's other interesting feature is her one blue eye. The other eye is gold. This is a very smart cat (much brighter than the two moose, but don't tell them I said that.) and incredibly affectionate. Point is I have been thinking that the only way I can enjoy having kittens would be if I breed cats AND so I was looking to see what kind of cats I might want to breed. How difficult (and or expensive) is it to find a breeding pair of Turkish Vans? Lillie obviously has this in her background (along with who knows what else!) and she is a delightful pet.

Love the kittens and looking to purchase one in the near future. Presently, I live in Saudi Arabia and is very difficult to import animals here. Hopefully, we will be returning to North America in July of 2000 . Closer to our actual return date, I wil email again about availability of a female kitten.
