A trip down memory lane...

We had the privilege of visiting this beautiful counrty in 1989. We decided to
fly into Shannon Airport, rent a car, and make a circular tour of the country.
One of the first places we went was Bunratty Castle, and then to have some pub
grub, and a pint of Guiness, at famous Dirty Nelly's. We had the best lunches on
our trip, hearty soups and tons of Irish Soda Bread, or brown bread. Pub lunches
were the best! From Shannon, we drove through ennis, and Limmerick, and arrived
in Killarney. We drove around the ring of Kerry, the Dingle Peninsula, and stayed
in Bed and Breakfast's along the way. Most of the accomodations were very good,
with the best breakfasts I have ever had! From Dingle, we went to Blarney,
toured the castle, and went to the famous Blarney Woolen Mills to shop...
what a wonderful place to buy authentic Irish gifts, souvenirs, jewelry,
Claddaugh rings, Aran sweaters and Blarney Mead. From Blarney, we went
to Kinsale, and stayed one night in that quaint, little port town. We then
headed to county Tipperary to visit the Rock of Cashel. We stayed in a lovely
bed and breakfast that had a wonderful view of the Rock of Cashel all lit up at
night. It was a working sheep farm, and I got a chance to feed a lame baby lamb,
with a bottle. From there, off to Dublin, to see the sights of the big city. Then we
drove west across the counrty, stopping at every castle and bit of ruins we came
across. We stopped at Clonmacnois to see the graves and ruins, it was a cold,
blustery day...but what should we have expected in the middle of February! But
there was always tons of hot tea to keep us warm on cold days, and the B&B
hostesses always knew how to make the best pot of tea! We stayed the next couple
of days in Galway, with a short day trip up to Kylemore and to see the Connemara
and it's peat bogs. Then, after 3 weeks, 13 rolls of film, and lots of newly made
friends, tons of shopping bags....we ended up back in Shannon for our trip home.
We met so many wonderful people, and saw such indescribably beautiful sights,
it is a trip I will never forget!!!

Thanks for visiting our Irish web page. We hope that one day, you too,
will see the beauty of this country for yourself. Pictures and video
DO NOT capture the 40 shades of green! You have to see it in person!
