Conformation or breed shows are where dogs of a particular breed are judged against a breed standard to determine which dog most closely matches that standard. This is the type of show seen in the Westminster Dog Show broadcast on television.
The judge will watch the dog standing, watch the dog moving, and with many breeds will feel the dog to determine what exactly is under all that hair. The judge will also look at the dog's teeth. The dog must put up with all this manipulation without acting either aggressively or fearfully. Here are some links to good conformation sites:
