RubyRed's Little Chapel

Welcome to RubyRed's Little Chapel. I've created the chapel as a place to rest and renew your spirit, your faith, and your heart. Within it's doors you will find music, poetry, and hope. You will find the love of our father, the Lord God, and his son, Jesus Christ. You will find the comfort of the Holy Spirit who is with us always.

The text of the music on this page soothes my soul. Speaking with my Lord God, one-on-one, does the same. Like most people I don't spend as much time in prayer as I should. I'm including a link here to a prayer for my child, one that I thought to write down after an especially important, especially revealing, talk with God. It's helped me to go back and read over the thoughts and insights that were given to me that day and by posting the prayer here I hope it will help others as well.

Please relax and enjoy your time in the chapel. You are welcome here.

Poetry in Music

Have you ever taken the time to just read music. Much Christian music is made up of lovely verse, as poetic as anything we think of as poetry. Sometimes soothing and restful, sometimes exciting, compelling, awakening! Let me introduce you to some of my favorite Poetry in Music.

Amazing Grace

This has always been one of my favorites. We are truly blessed with His Amazing Grace.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

Though many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come;
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me;
His Word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.

Tune: Johann Lohner

I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry

I was there to hear your borning cry,
I'll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized
to see your life unfold.

I was there when you were but a child,
with a faith to suit you well;
in a blaze of light you wandered off
to find where demons dwell.

When you heard the wonder of the Word
I was there to cheer you on;
you were raised to praise the living Lord,
to whom you now belong.

If you find someone to share your time
and you join your hearts as one,
I'll be there to make your verses rhyme
from dusk til rising sun.

In the middle ages of your life,
not too old, no longer young,
I'll be there to guide you through the night,
complete what I've begun.

When the evening gently closes in
and you shut your weary eyes,
I'll be there as I have always been
with just one more surprise.

I was there to hear your borning cry,
I'll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized,
to see your life unfold.

God Will Make A Way

Have faith because no matter how rough the road seems now, God WILL make a way. I truly believe that. He's always been there for me in my time of need and I believe He will be there for you too, if you only open your eyes and look for Him.

God will make a way
where there seems to be no way.
He works in ways we cannot see,
He will make a way for me.

He will be my guide,
hold me closely to His side,
With love and strength for each new day,
He will make a way,
He will make a way.

By a roadway in the wilderness He'll lead me.
Rivers in the desert will I see.
Heaven and earth will fade,
but his Word will still remain.
He will do something new today.

God will make a way
where there seems to be no way.
He works in ways we cannot see,
He will make a way for me.

He will be my guide,
hold me closely to His side.
With love and strength for each new day,
He will make a way.

God will make a way
where there seems to be no way.
He works in ways we cannot see,
He will make a way for me.

He will be my guide,
hold me closely to his side.
With love and strength for each new day,
He will make a way,
He will make a way.

God will make a way,
He will make a way.

This Is My Father's World

Listen carefully to the text of this song. It is one that I love and that means alot to me. When my dad passed away in 1985 we chose this song for his funeral. He was never a 'church goer' and never talked about God, but he was a farmer and his faith was right there for everyone to see in the way he was a caretaker for 'his Father's World'. When I hear or sing this song, I never fail to think about my dad and how much I loved him.

This is my Father's World,
And to my list'ning ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.

This is my Father's world;
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world;
The birds their carols raise;
The morning light, the lily white,
Declare their maker's praise.

This is my Father's world;
He shines in all that's fair.
In the rustling grass, I hear him pass;
He speaks to me ev'rywhere.

This is my Father's world;
Oh, let me not forget
That, though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.

This is my Father's world;
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is king, let the heavens ring;
God reigns, let the earth be glad!
Text: Maltbie D. Babcock
Tune: Franklin L. Sheppard

Give Thanks

Let us never forget to 'Give Thanks'. Without the love of God, who gave His own son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, we have nothing.

Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son.

Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son.

And now let the weak say,
"I am strong;"
Let the poor say,
"I am rich,
because of what the Lord
has done for us.

Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ, His Son.

Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Chirst, His Son.

Give thanks,
we give thanks,
we give thanks!
