I was born on a frigid winter day in the little town of Bassano, Alberta some 48 years ago February 5,1956........and this is my story.
Mom had only been in this country a few months having moved here
with her parents and her 5 other siblings from Germany after the
war. Dad followed her not long after and six weeks in this new
country he wakes up a married man... Eleven months later...ME!!!!
Needless to say that 6x6 trailer was just a bit small for the
three of us so we pulled up stakes and moved B.C. when I was
about 4 months old. We settled in the Fraser Valley and lived
a rather rural life..always surrounded by animals. My Grandparents
ran a 60 head dairy herd most of their lives and that is where
we would spend many wonderful summers. As time and the family grew
(I am the oldest of 4....one sister and two brothers) When I was 8
years old, we moved closer to the big city...well actually North
Delta. A big change for the entire family......our first indoor
plumbing and indoor water!!!!! talk about culture shock. There
I went to Richardson Elementary Shool (it just burned down in the
end of July 1997 due to some tar roofing that scorched the school)
and later all 5 years at North Delta Secondary School....HOME OF
THE HUSKIES....From there.....marriage...2 great boys...divorce,
a few more kicks at the can....and that brings me to where I am now..Life is good being married to Jim and surrounded by animals!
