Jedi Scares His Mom
The first in a series of illustrated stories written by Jedi.
Most days, when my mom comes home from work I greet her at the door.
We have a good time while she pets me and talks with me, and then she usually
(almost always) gives me a treat of some smoked turkey or chicken breast.
I look forward to her coming home so much!
One day, I decided to scare her. I heard the garage door open, and listened
to the car pull in. The engine cut off, her door opened and shut, and then - there
she was in the house. I quickly hid (I still haven't told my folks where I was: I
might want to use that hiding place again.)
She didn't think too much of it at first. "Oh, he's probably just sleeping
somewhere and hasn't heard me come in," she thought. So she went about taking off
her coat and hanging it up, and fetched the mail from the mailbox. "The front
door opening always brings Jedi around," she said confidently.
Still no Jedi. At this point she was getting a little worried, so she went
around through the rooms in the house, calling "Jedi, Jedi." She looked under
the beds, in the window sills, under the blankets she had left out for me that
morning - I wasn't in any of those places. She began to cry, fearing that I was
dead. She called Dad at work, and was so sad. She said "Jedi's been getting up
on the dryer, and I'm afraid he's fallen behind it and is dead."
Just then I walked up, meowing at her. She knows how much I hate for her to
talk on the phone.
