Mr. R. M. Linn, with the eye of a true artist, early selected Lookout Mountain and surrounding country as unexcelled in the variety and beauty of the scenery for a series of photographic views.  He has come to be known throughout the country as the "Photographer of Lookout," and his views adorn the studios of artists and the parlors of lovers of art all over the country.  We are indebted to Mr. Linn for a late-series of large views, which aside from the subjects, are remarkable examples of fine photography.  These pictures are as follows:  "Lake Seclusion" on Lookout Mountain; "The Unites States Military Bridge over the Tennessee River" at Chattanooga, showing the Navy yard, Cameron Hill, part of the city and Lookout Mountain in the distance; "Lulah Falls" on Lookout Mountain, a few rods below Lake Seclusion, on Rock Creek; "Summertown," on Lookout, situated on top of the mountain about one mile from the battlefield -- a resort for pleasure seekers in former times; "Major General Thomas and Staff, on Point Lookout," so admireably photographed that every individual in the party will be recognized by acquaintances; a view of "Chattanooga and Point Lookout," taking in a large scope of country adjacent,; a view of "Lake Linaugua," Waldens Ridge, situated on top of the mountain -- a lake surrounded by perpendicular cliffs, three hundred feet high at low water, without visable outlet and of unfathmable depth;  "The Battlefield of Lookout Mountain," a beautiful view, but exhibiting no evidence of the strife: and a view in "Rock City, Lookout Mountain." The last four named pictures will form invaluable studies to landscape artists.  Like all the others, however, they are complete picture of themselves, and should take the place of cheap daubs and engravings on the walls of our parlors. Mr. Linn deserves the thanks of the public with a country of such romantic and historic interest.  The views can be had by addressing the artist at Chattanooga.

THE ABOVE:  A transcript of a newspaper clipping entitled  "Lookout Mountain and its Surroundings." Janette: After Robert Michael Linn, Janette and Bertha Reade died, another sister, Sue moved in with James Birney and took care of her sisters children until James remarried.  Sue then is believed to have moved to Missouri where she married a college president.
