Ward Family History and News
W
elcome to the official homepage of the Ward Family Club, a national family organization devoted to gathering and preserving the heritage of ALL Ward families in America. This is the main purpose of our club. In the southern part of the United States (Dixie), most of the Ward families are descendants of pioneers from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who settled in the English colonies before we gained independence. Of course, all the different Ward families who settled in America are not blood related. However, we do have a common bond in a desire to preserve our family heritage. The family club is planned as a clearing house for information on the many different Ward families in America. Ward families, because they are so numerous, have been among the most difficult to trace. It could be easier--with more cooperation between relatives. This is the purpose of the family club: we hope to create one central source for all Ward descendants to come to for information about their ancestors. One of our main goals is to support the Ward Family National Library and to gather and preserve the family histories of all the different Ward families whose roots are in the South. Click on "HISTORY" in the INDEX below to visit the Family Club's family history section.
We now have a Memorials section where you can honor a lost Ward loved one with a memorial. You can post information on them (birth, death, marriage, children, etc.), poems, a photo, personal memories of them, their accomplishments, etc. Click on "MEMORIALS" in the INDEX below.
If you are looking for Ward ancestors, you can post a message/query in the queries section. You may be able to find someone who can help you with information and records on those "missing" or lost ancestors. Some distant relative may have a family Bible with all the facts you have been looking for. If you are looking for a particular ancestor, some other researcher may have already found the information you need and might be able to help you. Or you may be able to find other descendants who can tell you more about your living relatives. You can post a query about a Ward ancestor here to help you find ancestors. Click on "QUERIES"in the INDEX below.
Our newest section is devoted to honoring famous and notable Ward kin who have achieved the respect of the public through their endeavors in such fields as government serevice, including Congressmen, governors, lieutenant governors, state officials, mayors, sheriffs, county officials, judges, district attorneys and other government officials; the arts; business and industry; education; entertainment (movies stars, TV, music); military service; religion; science; sports and more. Click on "FAMOUS" in the INDEX below.
We also have a new online family newsletter, with current news, obituaries of deaths of Ward relatives, wedding announcements, engagements, anniversaries, birth notices, school news, feature articles and more about YOUR family. Click on "NEWS" in the INDEX below.
If your branch of the family is planning a reunion -- let us know the details so we can put an article about it in the family newsletter. See the newsletter for more info. Click on "NEWS" below.
For the website to be successful--WE NEED YOUR HELP! No one person nor small group can accomplish all this. Only by cooperating together can this dream become a reality. We urge all descendants of Ward families to participate in this project by sending in news about your branch to print in our family newsletters and copies of records and information to preserve in the Family Library. Hope you like our project and hope you will take part in it.
Y
ou are urged to send us information and copies of records on your immediate family to preserve in the Ward Family National Library. We are trying to gather copies of every type of public document and private records, including copies of marriage records, deeds, old letters, wills, US and state census records, obituaries, newspaper articles, family Bible records , estate and court records, birth and death certificates, military records, wedding and engagement notices, school records, old tax and voter's lists, cemetery tombstone inscriptions and more.PLEASE, make xerox copies of the family information in your Bible, obituaries of Ward relatives, wedding notices, military discharge papers, birth and death certificates and other types of family records you have and send these to us to preserve in the Family Library. Take time to record all the birth dates, marriages and deaths in your immediate family. Record the memories of the oldest relatives you know so these can be preserved for future generations.
Our Family Library will be donated to the Georgia State Archives upon the death of our historian. This is the largest and most modern state archives in the South and centrally located for the majority of our family.
If you are a Ward or descendant of a Ward, you are invited to join and support YOUR family club. This means ALL Ward families, especially those families whose ancestors were pioneer settlers of the American colonies. Obviously, we are not all blood related. However this family club hopes to unite us all in a common effort to gather and preserve our family heritage. Like any kind of club, a family club is also made up of members. Without MEMBERS, no club can exist. Your membership dues and donations will help pay for the Family Internet website, purchase more family records from courthouses and libraries, buy notebooks and office supplies and much more. None of this can be done without your support. If you like what we are trying to do, join and support your family club.
Your membership in the family club is very important to make it a success.
