"As the deer pants for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.
I thirst for the living God." Psalm 42:1,2
I LONG FOR YOUI remember when my youngest son was very
small. As soon as his little lips could form the
word, he began asking for a "coverall." Back
then, we lived on a farm, and Nate wanted more
than anything to be outdoors with his father.
Wearing a coverall was a necessity when feeding
the animals and cleaning the barn. My tiny son
adored his father and wanted to be just like him.
He wanted to do everything he did, and go
everywhere he went! I remember watching at the
window as my little boy struggled to keep up. He
would stumble and fall, but he would get right up
again! He copied his father time after time,
until finally he could feed the pigs too. He
asked questions continually as they drove around
in the truck. Soon he knew things that I
didn't-how many miles it was to the little town
nearby. What machinery parts were called. Where
to buy feed. Father and son built a close
relationship, and Nate adopted many of his
father's ways. That is exactly the kind of
devotion God, our heavenly Father wants us to
have for Him! He wants us to desire to be with
Him all the time. He wants to share a close
relationship with us. He wants us to try
and try until we become like He is. There are
untold mysteries to learn while sitting at His
feet. And when we stumble, He will always pick
us up!"Thou wilt show me
the path of life;
in thy presence is fulness of
joy;
at thy right hand there are pleasures
forevermore." Psalm
16:11
