History of Old Liberty Independent Church

If you are traveling north thur Scottsville,Ky on highway 100, about 3 miles out of town you will see a road sign saying Pleasant Field Rd. Turning right on Pleasant Field Rd. and going two and onehalf miles you can see this old country church settle in a country setting. A short lane carries you past the line of trees, the graveyard, and into the parking lot of this 103 year old building.
This building was erected in the year of 1896 from lumber that was sawed from trees off the farm on which it stands. Although there has been additions added, such as bathrooms, Sunday School rooms and an office, the sanctuary of the church still mantains the orignality.
As you step onto the newly added porch and thru the large double doors, you can see the bevel 16 ft. ceiling, the hand hued benches, and the two level podium at the end of the church.
The church was founded as "Old Liberty United Methodist Church".Thru the years down the church has been controled by different organizations, but the name "Old Liberty" has never been changed.
Out side and to the right is the graveyard dating back into the 1800's. Some of the graveyard was there before the church was builted in the late 1800's.
In Sept. of 1998 the church became "Old Liberty Independent Church" under the leadership of Pastor, Jean Cummings.
