"Bible Basics"
What is the Bible about?

The Bible was written by some 40 authors spanning over 1,600 years. Its divied into 2 main sections, the "Old Testament" and the "New Testament".Its Gods story.God uses people to tell His story. In {2Peter 1:21}"For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit".IN {2Timothy 3:16,17}"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work".
The Bible is both divine and human. The thought is divine, the revelation is divine, but the expression of communication is human.
While many passages speak of people seeking God, they all reflect God's prior efforts to reach out and His promises to reveal Himself to all who seek Him.
The Bible presents one central theme.....Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. The Bible tells the story of Jesus Christ from humanity's separation from God in the Garden of Eden until the end of history in Revelations. God tells the story of the gift of His Son, Jesus, to save us thoughout the pages of Scripture.
God promised Abraham that out of his seed or descendants, all the nations of the earth would be blessed. Paul, writing in Galatians 3:16, says, "The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The scripture does not say 'and to seeds,' meaning many people, but 'and to your seed,' meaning one person who is Christ."
The bloodline of the Messiah can be traced from Genesis to the Gospels.
Mark starts his story of Jesus' life by taking us back to the prophet Isaiah; "The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is written in Isaiah the prophet; 'I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way'" (Mark 1:1,2).
Matthew begins by stating: "A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham" (Matthew 1:1).
Luke goes further back than Matthew: "He was the son....of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Abraham, the son of God" (Luke 3:23,38).
John begins, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1).

So we find that the Bible is about God and his desire to have a "Covenant" with people. So what is a "Covenant?"
A covenant is an unchangeable agreement between God and His people that states the responsibilities and obligations of their relationship.
