ANTONIO GERONOVICHAntonio
Geronovitch was naturalized in
Australia Victoria in 1866 he was

He came to Victoria in about 1854
and also went to Redcastle to try
his luck with the
gold and is stated to be one of
the men who pioneered the
Redcastle Goldfields.
We believe he also had some luck
as he was granted a publicans
liscence for "The All
Nations Hotel" at the
Redcastle bench in June 1863. He
was in patnership with a
james Kerr but bought him out on
the 24/2/1869.Antonio ran the
"All Nations Hotel"
until it closed at about the end
of 1879.
He died on 20th May 1880 at the
age of 53 years. Their was an
inquest into his death:
Magisterial
Inquiry held at redcastle on the
Seventeenth day of may 1880
before
William Youle, one of Her
Majesty's Justices of The peace
for the Midland Bailiwick of
The Colony of Victoria, touching
the death of Antonio Geronovitch
and on view of the
body.
Mary Geronovitch
Deposed:
Antonio Geronovitch has been
complaining for several days.
On Monday week he complained of
cold shivers and went to bed. He
got up again the
next day and sat on the sofa
wrapped in blankets, sat about
two hours and retired to
bed. Before going back to bed he
said "I am done, my lungs
are gone."
I wanted to send for a doctor but
he would not consent, saying it
was no use, he was
to far gone.
For sometime he has been very low
spirited, on account of his not
succeeding in
obtaining anything from his
prospecting efforts.
My late husband was a native of
regusa in Austria and was 53
years of age.
Mary Geronovitch.

I am a legally qualified medical
practitioner residing at
Heathcote.
I have made a post mortem
examination of the body of the
deceased, Antonio
Geronovitch.
On opening the chest I found
acute inflimation of the
pericardeum and of the heart.
The former contained a large
quantity of turbid serum with
flakes of lympth floating in
it.
It was lined with a layer of
lympth and the heart itself was
covered with lympth.
The inflimation I have mentioned
was the cause of death.

some time after he 17th birthday
and before the burial of Mary and
