The Australian Croatian Genealogical and
Historical Society (A.C.G.H.S.) was started as a result of
researching for the Croatian pioneers of Victoria who migrated to
Australia in the 1860's. It has now branched out to promote
Croatian Culture and to assist families of Croatian descent to
reunite family members and friends who have lost contact through
wars and migration.
The A.C.G.H.S. began to do this through the Internet, and by
developing chat rooms and message boards for any person,
worldwide, to post notices. This has resulted in requests from
many relatives asking for the help in locating people of Croatian
origin who migrated to Australia in the 1950s-1960's. Some of
these requests have been direct from Croatia, where families have
lost touch with relatives moving around Australia.
Therefore, we now ask for the help of the community in reuniting
these people by recognizing any of the family's named, and that
you contact us with the details so that we can pass any
information on to the relevant people inquiring about their lost
relatives.
This column will be published, with thanks to the Croatian
Herald, and editor Tomislav Starcevic on a weekly basis, and is
compiled by Amanda and Ivica Fonti. We are doing this as a
non-profit community service, and no money is being exchanged for
the information. This has been started only to reunite families
and is not a profit making enterprise.
Ante Komljenovic was born in Croatia in 1940 and emigrated to
Australia in either the late 1950's or early 1960's after fleeing
Croatia via Italy.
He was the only one of his family to come to Australia.
Ante was based in the Mt Gambier region in the South East of
South Australia and worked in the timber industry.
Ante fathered a son Joseph to an Australian lady but
unfortunately in March 1968 when Joseph was only five months old
Ante was tragically killed in a car accident.
Now Joseph is asking us for help to find out about his father, so
that he can tell his children about their Grandfather and
Croatian culture.
The information that is being requested is details about Ante and
his family ,and to reunite Joseph and his family with relatives
in Croatia or Australia.
Mario Buric
Ime mi je Dulijano Grum, roden sam u Puli 1966. godine. Trazim
ujaka Maria Burica, brata moje majke Milke, rodenog u srpnju
1938. godine, a 1964. godine emigrirao je u Australiju, gdje je
neko vrijeme radio u rudnicima opala. Posljednji put javio se za
Bozic 1970. godine.
Ukoliko je moguce, zelio bih uspostaviti kontakt s mojim ujakom
ili njegovom obitelji ako je istu u meduvremenu osnovao.
