1860

1860 Ohio Census, Fayette County, Perry Township,
Village of New Martinsburg, page 438
The census taker used the double prime (") to record place of birth. This would indicate that they were born in Virginia, as the last state listed is Virginia. This is known to be untrue. Milton's last three children were listed on the next page and had Ohio written out as the place of birth. Margaret J. is listed as Stephene in the 1850 census for Highland County, Ohio. Personal property was valued at $500. John L, Angeline, Isaac and Zephaniah had attended school within the past year. Gossett is misspelled as Gossitt.
