8 Gossett Boys

This photograph of Milton and Naomi Gossett's eight sons was taken at Fairmount, Indiana. The brothers are identified as standing, left to right: Zephaniah, Orlando, John, William and Isaac. Seated left to right: Elmer, Addison and Henry. This photo was published in the Chronicles of the Gossett Family by Grace M. Jerkins, page 209, and was also found among the personal papers of John L Gossett. It was an important piece of evidence in determining who John L's father was.

This photo was taken during a family picnic at Devil’s Den in Leesburg, Ohio, in August 1914 ,as identified on the back of the original photo. It is enlarged from a much smaller photo. The people are identified as standing in the back row, left to right: unknown, Lottie Gossett, Dan Logan (wearing top hat, Charley Gossett (face is partially hidden, Charly Logan and Eva. Second row L to R: Hazel, Roy [Gossett], unknown, unknown, unknown. Front row L to R: Earl [Gossett], Grace, Treny, Juanita [Gossett], Jim [Gossett] and Clarence.

This photo was found in personal papers belonging to John L. Gossett. Among the papers with this photo was John L's original Civil War discharge papers and a photo that has been identified as the "8 Gossett Boys" photo, seen above. She was originally identified as a young Mary Margaret Carle but that is now in dispute. If you know who she is e-mail me her identity at kimhughes@glasscity.net.
