Thoughts from the East

Dear Brothers:

Saint Andrew Lodge is going and growing! We added a member to the rolls Wednesday night: Brother Van Swearengen restored his membership after a 36-year absence! Welcome back, Brother Van.

We also accepted a petition and will be voting on a new brother at the May Stated, and hope to have at least 3 more petitions in the months ahead!

The Grand Master's District Meeting was a great success, thanks to a lot of hard work by a lot of people. A very special thanks to Charlie and Betty Sherer in the kitchen, along with Orpha Ferguson and all the other ladies and gents who helped.

We had more than 100 Masons visit our lodge that night, including, of course, Most Worshipful Dan Rice, Grand Master of AF & AM of NC and a graduate of the Masonic Home for Children.
Another heads up: Saint Andrew will be raffling off a shotgun as a fund-raiser for the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford. Tickets will be available at the May Stated Communication and the drawing will be in August.
Please mark your calendars: St. Andrew Lodge meets on the third Wednesday of each month, Stated at 7:30, dinner usually at 6:30.

Fraternally yours,
Eric Dixon
Master

Secretary's Desk
Let me tell you right now that Lonnie, Harold and Dean continue to work their magic, month in and month out, in the Saint Andrew kitchen. In March it was frog legs, and they were leapin' awesome! You have no idea what you're missing if you're not joining us on the third Wednesday.

You also missed a treat if you missed the Grand Master's District Meeting in April. You would have had the privilege of meeting and talking to Most Worshipful Brother Dan Rice, who gave a great talk and presided over a terrific district meeting.

Guys, we've still got several brothers who haven't paid their 2009 dues. If you're in a pinch or having any kind of problems, let us know and we'll work with you! And give me a shout if you'd like to have some of the raffle tickets for our shotgun raffle we're holding to benefit the Masonic Home for Children!
Harvey Burgess, PM
Secretary

News of Note:
FROM THE WEST: We've got some degree work coming up at Saint Andrew, and we'd like to get as many members as possible involved. We'll be having several practice sessions and you're welcome to attend!
-Jonathan Dixon, SW

FROM THE SOUTH: A shotgun raffle and degree work. Is there plenty going on at Saint Andrew or what? Come on out and see for yourself. And be sure and check out the 'new' parking lot, new flag pole and all the bright and shiny improvements we're making at the lodge!
- Ted Yandle,JW

FROM YOUR TREASURER: I hope that everyone will participate in the special donor plaque Worshipful Brother Blair Ferguson created, as much as a memorial to Blair as to help the lodge. A $100 or more contribution gets your name on the plaque. It is an honor to be your treasurer! - I.J. Corley, PM, Treasurer
