Journey Through the Bible
Spirit-Led Bible Study - Page 1 of 2 >

The Bible is indeed a remarkable book. Words alone fail to fully capture its value, importance, and ability to transform individuals, couples, families, nations and churches.

The Bible is God's Word. More than one book, it is a collection of books, a liber in Latin which means library. Thus the Bible is a library of 66 books written and compiled as a complete and accurate record of God's self-revelation to a fallen humanity. That alone should be enough to motivate anyone to grasp it in hand and digest it word for word, sentence for sentence; slowly, carefully, and open mindedly.

The Bible is also the absolute authority for living life full and abundantly. No self-help book or self-improvement program can do what the Bible, as God's Word, does. It offers hope in the face of hopelessness, peace in the midst of war (be it political or personal conflict), joy when surrounded by grief, and love in a world of hate and violence.

Most of all, the Bible introduces you to your Heavenly Father through the Person of Jesus Christ -- God' Son . . . your friend.

Over the years, God has granted my family and I many wonderful ways to study His Word and be enriched by the experience. One way, in particular, stands out from all other methods. I call it, the Spirit-led Bible Study. With it, believers of all ages and background garner a new and exciting relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. My wife and I first developed the method while attending Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. With our children, we would sit around our dinner table and allow the Bible to speak to each of us individually. Since that time, I have used it on countless occasions in churches and small groups; fellow pastors have used it as a regular part of Wednesday evening study hours; Sunday School classes have employed it with much success.

What makes the Spirit-led Bible Study so unique is its dependence and leading of the Holy Spirit -- the third person of the trinity. The Holy Spirit not only illumines the text being studied, as is true of all Bible Studies, but actually selects the text most appropriate, timely, and applicable to the participants. It's a fun and exciting way to dwell into God's Word as I think you will soon agree.

The following instructions are designed to help you facilitate and participate in a Spirit-led Bible Study. Use them with an expectant heart and a keen awareness that God has something special to say to y ou. The Bible will reveal that "something." -- Pastor Williams
