RANDLE v RANDALL v RANDOL v RANDOLF v RANDOLPH

This website is for those of you who have ancestors with any of the above surnames or variants. THE Randolphs of Virginia will not be the focus here even though surnames allied with that family, such as Isham, Parham, Osborn(e), Jackson, Colby and Beverly, show up as Randle given names. According to Albion's Seed by David Hackett Fischer (1989), "Randall" was the way a "Randolph" in Virginia pronounced his name.

Many southern Randles descend from John Randle and Mary Johns of King William County, Virginia. Their children migrated to Brunswick County, Virginia, and descendants to North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi. One group of descendants migrated to Illinois; otherwise, I have no knowledge of northern Randle lines.

Eleanor Colson has a wonderful web site which deals with the descendants of James Randle and Roseanna Graves who migrated from Brunswick County, VA, to Hancock County, GA, in the late 1790s. We believe this James descends from John and Mary (Johns) Randle but have been unable to find the "smoking gun".

Eleanor has set up Randle GenConnect Boards where you can read or post queries, wills, deeds, Bible records, obits, bios, correspondence, cemetery inscriptions AND, at the James Randle/Roseanna graves site, she has provided space for OTHER RECORDS - marriage, cemetery, military, court, census, taxes.  If you would like to share any of this type of material, please post it at GenConnect or send it to Eleanor.  And, view what's already been made available.

If you are aware of any web pages with a Randle tie-in, let me know and I'll put them on this site.

May your deadends come to life soon!                    Kay Oatas, k_oatas@geocities.com
