5 Mar 2008: From the Background of the Gailliot Family, I added a link to my Picasa photo album on the Internet. Click on the album entitled, Mother's Ancestral Homelands, Part I, Germany- Wesel, Reese, Grietherbusch

1 Nov 2006:   Added a link to one of my albums at my Yahoo account which contains several images pertaining to the Gailliot and Dumolin family history. Book mark this web site, so you can return later, then link to my Yahoo albums and select the album entitled, Mom's Homelands. UPDATE: Photo albums feature at Yahoo! was closed down. Images migrated to Picasa photo album.

22 Aug 2005: Added about 5 more obituaries.

10 Jul 2005: Uploaded an Introduction to the GAILLIOT and DUMOULIN families of my mother's paternal ancestors.

10 Jul 2005:  Uploaded an Introduction to the AUSTEL and GUTGSELL families of my mother's maternal ancestors.

26 Feb 2001:  Today, I start a 6 week job in Berwick, PA. So, I will probably put this Web site on a back burner for a couple of months. I will have my email and snail mail forwarded. I'd love to hear from you. See you in April. Bye, Bob

13 Feb 2001:  Added web pages of My Pedigree (Ahnentafel) in Stone in which I present images of my ancestors tombstones. It was quite revealing for me to realize how many of my ancestors are buried without markers or in unknown graves. So, I also added a text only versionof my Ahnentafel Chart.

11 Dec 2000: Added two additional photos to Austel/Gutgsell/Frederick Photo album. Caption to Gutgsell gravestone at Braddock Catholic Cemetery indicates a conundrum for our family history.

22 Sep 2000: Added page of Obituaries and Death Notices. By the way I will be working near Tom's River, New Jersey, for the month of October. Please be patient regarding a response from me, I promise I will get back to you one way or another. I would appreciate hearing from YOU.

4 Jan 2000: Happy New Year and Good Luck in your ancestor hunting. WHERE have I been? I was working on the road in Sep, Oct, and Nov, 1999.  When I came home in Dec, besides getting ready for Christmas, I was frustratingly trying to fix some glitches in my computer system. Now all is well, and I have the long, cold days of Winter to stay in and expand this web site. Stay tuned.

1 July 1999:  I returned from the road the middle of May. On the way home I stopped by Richmond and attended the National Genealogical Convention, May 12-15. I honed my genealogical skills, and bought yet another computer genealogy program. The first of June, I decided to transfer my father's genealogy from geocities to a new site at RootsWeb. The transfer will be gradual until the traffic is rerouted. I wanted to free my web page from the banner ads and "java script errors" of geocities. This was just before Yahoo and Geocities merged. I plan to keep the Geocities site to present my maternal branch. This will eventually divide up the surnames between two sites. Can you imagine picking up a family history book and trying to decipher a dozen different surnames and their individual lines of descent- it's already confusing enough. The alternative would be to have each surname on it's own independent web site. HOW do YOU do it? I'm open for suggestions.

13 Apr 1999:  Sorry, but starting on this date, I am entering a 6 week dark phase on my home computer. I will be on the road working some long hours. I will bring my trusty laptop PC with me, and I might be able to return some email, but please be patient. I value your comments, additions, and corrections to my web pages. I have enjoyed some very enlightening e-conversations. Please stay tuned. I also love snail mail. Genealogists have not given up on that means of communication I hope.

9 Apr 1999:  Uploaded the first two pages of a photo journal of my trip to the British Isles to research my Russell ancestors and their homelands.

6 Apr 1999: After waiting a year and a half, I finally received the upgrade to my computer genealogy program, Ancestral Quest 2.1 to 3.0. And man, was I heart broken. The Modified Register Report for creating web pages was substantially changed for the worse. If I choose to hide vital statistics for living persons like I have done here, then the persons name is not given either, and instead, the words "living" are given. The index of "names" looks absolutely rediculous. So Ancestral Quest posted a patch on their web page to correct this situation and several other bugs (they must have heard a lot of hollering), and frustratingly, it did NOT work! Just had to get this off my chest. Actually, I have a fix for the Ancestral Quest bug- it's called The Master Genealogist by Wholly Genes, Inc.

2 Apr 1999: Uploaded a Modified Register Report (Descendant chart) for Joseph Austel and Margaret Gutgsell. I also uploaded 2 images to a Photo album of the Austel family. This completes a group of Descendant charts (Modified Register Reports) which present all the major branches of my ancestors. I could not stop at just one branch.

2 Apr 1999: Added Modified Register Report (Descendant Chart) for Anthony Gailliot and Helen Schlebusch, on my mother's father's branch. My mother's father was Charles Gailliot.

2 Apr 1999: Added a Photo album  for the Gailliot/Dumoulin families (13 images).

31 Mar 1999:  Added my transcription of Thomas Russell's Jounal, including an Every Name Index and 6 images. This was a time-consuming project, but I hope I will be able reach other researchers who had coal mining ancestors from the Easington District of Durham County, England.

13 Mar 1999: Added Photo album for Streich, Kramp and Hohnke families (15 images).

12 Mar 1999: Added David Russell to the missing persons list along with what information I do have on David (includes one image of David).

28 Feb 1999: In the past few days I have added modified register reports (descendant charts) for:
1. Frederick HOHNKE which includes my direct paternal line- the STREICH family.
2. Johann KRAMP, the adopted family of my father. My father was fostered and eventually adopted by his father's sister, Martha Streich, who was married to Robert W. Kramp.

In addition, I added more photos to the Russell/Hartley album, and expanded the Russell Clan page.

28 Feb 1999: The operation to remove my cancerous prostate was successful. I thank God; I thank my family, doctors, and hospital staff at Radford; and I thank you for your prayers. Today marks my first week out of the hospital, and I feel great- may even try to upload more genealogical data to my web site.

18 Feb 1999: Today, I am scheduled to have a radical prostatectomy for cancer of the prostate. This will probably definitely slow me down. Responses to my email might be a little slow, but I would still like to hear from you. So be patient, and I appreciate your prayers and support.

I am open about my disease, even though it seems a little impersonal to spread it over the internet. Many of our diseases are genetically inherited, or at least have a familial tendency to be passed on. Therefore, it is incumbent on us genealogists to at least keep a record of our family's medical records. No longer do we have the benefit of a personal country doctor that knew our parents and grandparents. I do not know the best way to pass this medical history on to our descendants. Privacy issues are involved. Do you have any ideas or comments?

In the meantime, I will say that my tumor is what is called low stage (localized), relatively aggressive (Gleason score of 7 out of possible 10- being the worst). After a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test of about 1 for the past two years, it went up to 4.8 the week before Xmas, prompting a biopsy. The biopsy was positive for cancer.

3 Feb 1999: First draft of my web page was uploaded using ftp to my geocities neighborhood. However, it took me several days to create the page and to learn the techniques of structuring sub directories. It was difficult to link the web page created by Ancestral Quest- using their default values- to the Main page of my site.
