I must give credit to some of my findings to my many cousins, most very distant in relationship and distance. The interest in my family tree arose when my family received a copy of DESCENDANTS OF MATTHIAS ROTTACKER, compiled by Mildred (Miller) Reiswig, Goldie (Reimche) Fiesel, Alvina (Stolp) Rodacker, Betty (Rodacker) Melby, and Marjorie (Toews) Reimche. Then followed a copy of the REISWIG FAMILY CHRONICLE. The latest version of this Reiswig book is compiled by Colleen Reiswig, JoAnn(Reiswig) Loeffler and Idella (Reiswig) Thut. I then received two different books compiled on the BAUMBACH family. One was compiled by Violet Nance of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The other was by Lillian (Baumbach) Reiswig, JoAnn (Reiswig) Loeffler and Idella (Reiswig) Thut. On contacting Sylvia (Gates) Lewis, my aunt in California about 1988, she gave me the name of DOW. Another contact in Reno, Nevada by the name of Evelyn (Overstreet) Hooper helped a lot by copying names out of a family bible and this is where I found the names of BAILEY and SPRAGUE. With the names of Dow, Bailey and Sprague I located a book (only 6 pages) written by Dwight Kelton in 1896. In it he traces the first Sprague's in my line, from Dorset, England to New England in 1628/29. The line of William Sprague, my line, was compiled in 1896, and ended by mentioning Gardner Warren Dow married Florence Lucinda Bailey, They have nine children and live in Colorado. With a copy of THE BOOK OF DOW, compiled by Robert Piercy Dow I was able to trace my lineage back to Henry Dow who immigrated to New England about 1637. . On the THOMPSON - STARK line I must give most of the credit to Ken Thompson in Colorado. He and his contacts have supplied me with numerous pieces of information on this line and names of many more contacts. There are many more distant cousins and people that I have met over the web and through the mail, that have sent me family tree information for which I am very greatful. Without all your help I probably would have given up long ago. Thanks to all of you. Return to HOME PAGE MCMAHON SPRAGUE DOW BAILEY ROTHACKER/ROTTACKER/RODACKER REISWIG BAUMBACH |
