AUGUSTA TISCHER DOSDALL
(AUGUSTE LOUISE)

Born 10-12-1850 in Germany, died 2-10-1929 in Owatonna, Steele County, MN at Johanna Christiane Pauline Zeise Ochs' (aka Pauline) home in the northern section of residential Owatonna, Steele Cty., MN.

She’s remembered by virtually all six of Otto and Minnie (Zeise) Olp's daughters/family we’ve contacted as “Tante Augusta”, which translates to being an aunt. Similar memories come from Minnie Zeise Olp sibling's families, as well Minnie's cousins.

New sources: newspaper obit stating two of Anna Rosena Tischer Zeise children as niece and nephew. Text of her Will naming all of Anna's children as heirs. Based on another obit listing half sisters and brothers still in Germany at her death in 1929, Augusta and Anna may have been half-sisters. These were all found at the MN History Center, St. Paul, MN.

She came to America (from Buckwintke/Buckenwerder, Oels, Silsia, Germany) Aug. 13, 1875 at the age of 24 as a servant with her brother-in-law's, Johann Gottlieb Zeise (aka Gottlieb) and Johanna Wurm large family. "Tante" Augusta Louise Tischer Dosdall - who was she? This elusive, but interesting, lady is remembered as living alone in the summer in her own home, and during the winter living with Peter and Pauline (Zeise) Ochs’ family (around the block from her home on Oak St., Owatonna, MN), Gottlieb Zeise’s seventh child, Johanna Christiane Pauline (aka Pauline). She would be visited by confirmand family students who would stay with her in town while taking confirmation instruction and help with chores. She is listed in the 1920 MN Federal Census as living as head of household in Owatonna, Steele County, MN.

Siblings, possibly step-siblings, living in 1929:
Dorothea Cupke living at Ludwigsdorf, Kreis Oels, Silesia, Germany (believed to be elderly and in ill health)
Christiane Simmeck living at Briese, Silesia, Germany
Louise Tischer living at Bukowinke, Silesia, Germany
