Free NPED.exe - hybred DOS/Windows Pedigree Software

NPED is a MSDOS application ( runs in a DOS window ) and uses the same keyboard and mouse interface as PED. NPED however creates report file and invokes word pad for its print preview and print capabilities. This allows the user to WordPad's(r) Printer setup to change margins and paper orientation. For the sample below I changed to paper orientation to landscape, and had the Left margin set to 1.5 inches. The top, bottom, and right margins were set to .25 inches. Some reports from PED have been removed, All have been modified to use Crystal fonts (provided in the download) and have the font sizes changed to work in harmony with WordPad. The documents were designed and tested to the letter 8.5 x 11 paper size but should work well on A4 paper. In addition NPED has the capability of creating ?????.csv files for use by COI (coefficient of inbreeding) offered in these web pages.

System requirements

Windows 98 or better. - - - The software was revised and tested on Windows98
3 MB of Disk space.
WordPad installed on your computer and the ability to print from WordPad to your printer.
Unzip software installed on you computer

User requirements

Ability to unzip files.
Familiar with WordPad ( editing files, printer setup, print preview, and printing )
Windows explorer ( Create folders, locate and copy files, delete files, etc.)
Ability to install a new font. In Windows98 this procedure and be found from start->Help->fonts->adding. Crystal© font is a freeware true type font.

Operating systems where users have reported successfuly running NPED.

Windows95 - Wordpad in windows 95 does recognize crystal font or font size when opening a report. From the edit menu you must manually select all of the text and then change the font to crystal font and set the font size to 8 or 9 before the line-draw characters are rendered correctly.
