Honda VT500 Ascot project
I seem to have developed a habit of taking on more projects than I should. If nothing else, it keeps me from getting bored.
This is a 1984 Honda VT500 Ascot that sat for over a decade. I was with the previous owner when he bought it, in the late 1980's, and it had just under 2,000 miles on the odometer and was in very good condition. It now has just under 3,000 miles on the odometer, and it is definitely not in good condition.
I recently managed to talk the previous owner into selling it, so I now have another project to keep me busy.
Where is the tank?
As for what it's supposed to look like, I found a picture from some Honda sales literature.
Honda only made the Ascot version of the VT500 for two years, 1983 and 1984. Apparently, they didn't sell well enough to keep making the Ascot, but the cruiser version, the VT500 Shadow, was made for several more years.
