TO GOD, BE THE GLORY.

Why have You chosen

Why have You chosen me out of millions Your child to be
You know all the wrongs that I have done
Oh how could You pardon me, forgive my iniquities
I can't understand it I confess

But Lord help me be what You want me to be
Your word I will strive to obey
My life I now give, for You I will live
And walk by Your side all the way

I am amazed to know that a God so great could love me so
Is willing and wanting to bless
His love is so wonderful, His mercy so bountiful
I can't understand it I confess

But Lord help me be what You want me to be
Your word I will strive to obey
My life I now give, for You I will live
And walk by Your side all the way

And walk by Your side all the way

>>>OUR FATHER KNOWS BEST<<<

Our FATHER knows what's best for us
So why should we complain
We always want the sunshine
But HE knows there must be rain

We like the sound of laughter
and the merriment of cheer
But our hearts would lose their tenderness
If we never shed a tear

Our FATHER tests us often
With suffering and with sorrow
HE tests us, not to punish us
But to help us meet tomorrow

For growing trees are strengthened
When they withstand the storm
And the sharp cut of the chisel
Gives the marble grace and form

Our FATHER never hurts us needlessly
And HE never waste our pain
For every loss HE sends to us
Is followed by a rich gain

And when we count the blessings
That GOD has so freely sent
We will find no cause for murmuring
And no time to lament

For our FATHER loves HIS children
And to him all things are plain
So HE never sends us pleasure
When the soul's deep need is pain

So whenever we are troubled
And when everything goes wrong
It is just GOD working in us
To make our spirit strong.

GOD bless you all.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY

TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE
SO LOVED HE THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE US HIS SON
WHO YIELDED HIS LIFE AN ATONEMENT FOR SIN
AND OPEN THE LIFE GATE THAT ALL MAY GO IN

PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD
LET THE EARTH HEAR HIS VOICE PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD LET THE PEOPLE REJOICE
O COME TO THE FATHER THRO' JESUS THE SON
AND GIVE HIM THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE

O PERFEECT REDEMPTION, THE PURCHASE OF BLOOD
TO EVERY BELIEVER THE PROMISE OF GOD
THE VILEST OFFENDER WHO TRULY BELIEVES
THE MOMENT FROM JESUS A PARDON RECEIVES

GREAT THINGS HE HATH TAUGHT US, GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE
AND GREAT OUR REJOICING THRO' JESUS THE SON
BUT PURER, AND HIGHER, AND GREATER WILL BE OUR WONDER
OUR TRANSPORT, WHEN JESUS WE SEE

RUSSIAN ROULETTE

Have you ever heard of the game Russian Roulette? A person-a-fool-takes a revolver and loads just one bullet into the cylinder. The fool then spins the cylinder, points the gun at his head and pulls the trigger. If the bullet is not lined up with the firing pin, the person survives. But if the bullet is in firing position, BANG ! the player loses. You would probably think that the person who plays such a game is a fool. But I would like to ask you an important question. Have you got your life straightened out with God? If not, sooner or later that bullet will come around. You can thumb your nose at God for only so long.

Don’t play with eternity.

THE BIBLE SAYS:

There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one (Rom. 3:23). For the wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23). For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men (Rom. 1:18).

THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO SAVE YOURSELF:

Therefore by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight (Rom. 3:20). Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Nay: but by the law of faith (Rom. 3:27).

BUT GOD LOVES YOU:

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him (Rom. 5:8,9).

YOU MUST PLACE YOUR "COMPLETE" FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: (Rom. 3:22). That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Rom. 10:9). Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law (Rom. 3:28).

IF YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST ALONE CAN SAVE YOU…

And being fully persuaded, what we had promised, he was able also to perform (Rom. 4:21).

ANGELS?

In September 1960, I woke up one morning with six hungry babies and just 75 cents in my pocket. Their father was gone. The boys ranged from three months to seven years; their sister was two. Their Dad had never been much more than a presence they feared. Whenever they heard his tires crunch on the gravel driveway, they would scramble to hide under their beds. He did manage to leave 15 dollars a week to buy groceries. Now that he had decided to leave, there would be no more beatings, but no food either. If there was a welfare system in effect in southern Indiana at that time, I certainly knew nothing about it. I scrubbed the kids until they looked brand new and then put on my best homemade dress. I loaded them into the rusty old 51 Chevy and drove off to find a job. The seven of us went to every factory, store, and restaurant in our small town. No luck. The kids stayed, crammed into the car and tried to be quiet while I tried to convince whomever would listen that I was willing to learn or do anything. I had to have a job. Still no luck. The last place we went to, just a few miles out of town, was an old Root Beer Barrel drive-in that had been converted to a truck stop. It was called the Big Wheel. An old lady named Granny owned the place and she peeked out of the window from time to time at all those kids. She needed someone on the graveyard shift, 11 at night until seven in the morning. She paid 65 cents an hour and I could start that night. I raced home and called the teenager down the street that baby-sat for people. I bargained with her to come and sleep on my sofa for a dollar a night. Shecould arrive with her pajamas on and the kids would already be asleep. This seemed like a good arrangement to her, so we made a deal. That night, when the little ones and I knelt to say our prayers, we all thanked God for finding Mommy a job. And so I started at the Big Wheel. When I got home in the mornings, I woke the baby-sitter up and sent her home with one dollar of my tip money - fully half of what I averaged every night. As the weeks went by, heating bills added another strain to my meager wage. The tires on the old Chevy had the consistency of penny balloons and began to leak. I had to fill them with air on the way to work and again every morning before I could go home. One bleak fall morning, I dragged myself to the car to go home and found four tires in the back seat. New tires! There was no note, no nothing, just those beautiful brand new tires. Had angels taken up residence in Indiana? I wondered. I made a deal with the owner of the local service station. In exchange for his mounting the new tires, I would clean up his office. I remember it took me a lot longer to scrub his floor than it did for him to do the tires. I was now working six nights instead of five and it still wasn't enough. Christmas was coming and I knew there would be no money for toys for the kids. I found a can of red paint and started repairing and painting some old toys. Then I hid them in the basement so there would be something for Santa to deliver on Christmas morning. Clothes were a worry too. I was sewing patches on top of patches on the boys pants and soon they would be too far gone to repair. On Christmas Eve the usual customers were drinking coffee in the Big Wheel. These were the truckers, Les, Frank, and Jim, and a state trooper named Joe. A few musicians were hanging around after a gig at the Legion and were dropping nickels in the pinball machine. The regulars all just sat around and talked through the wee hours of the morning and then left to get home before the sun came up. When it was time for me to go home at seven o'clock on Christmas morning, I hurried to the car. I was hoping the kids wouldn't wake up before I managed to get home and get the presents from the basement and place them under the tree. (We had cut down a small cedar tree by the side of the road down by the dump.) It was still dark and I couldn't see much, but there appeared to be some dark shadows in the car - or was that just a trick of the night? Something certainly looked different, but it was hard to tell what. When I reached the car I peered warily into one of the side windows. Then my jaw dropped in amazement. My old battered Chevy was full - full to the top with boxes of all shapes and sizes. I quickly opened the driver's side door, scrambled inside and kneeled in the front facing the back seat. Reaching back, I pulled off the lid of the top box. Inside was a whole case of little blue jeans, sizes 2-10! I looked inside another box. It was full of shirts to go with the jeans. Then I peeked inside some of the other boxes. There were candy and nuts and bananas and bags of groceries. There was an enormous ham for baking, and canned vegetables and potatoes. There was pudding and Jell-O and cookies, pie filling and flour. There was a whole bag of laundry supplies and cleaning items. And there were five toy trucks and one beautiful little doll. As I drove back through empty streets as the sun slowly rose on the most amazing Christmas Day of my life, I was sobbing with gratitude. And I will never forget the joy on the faces of my little ones that precious morning. Yes, there were angels in Indiana that long-ago December. And they all hung out at the Big Wheel truck stop.

A SIMPLE GESTURE

Mark was walking home from school one day when he noticed the boy ahead of him had tripped and dropped all the books he was carrying along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder. Mark knelt down and helped the boy picked up the scattered articles. Since they were going the same way, he helped to carry the burden. As they walked Mark discovered the boy name was Bill, that loved video games baseball and history, that he was having a lot of trouble with his other subjects and he had just broken up his girlfriend. they arrived at Bill's home first and Mark was invited in for a coke and to watch some TV. The afternoon passed pleasantly with a few laughs and some shared small talk, then mark went home. They continued to see each other around school , had lunch together once or twice, then both graduated from high school. they ended up the same college where they had brief contacts over the years. Finally the long awaited senior year come, and three weeks before graduation Bill asked Mark if they could talk. Bill reminded him of the day years ago when they first met "Do you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things from school that day?" asked bill. "You see I cleaned out my locker because I didn't want to leave a mess from anyone else. I had stored away some of my mother's pills and I was going to commit a suicide. But after we spent some time together I realized that if I had, I would have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, Mark, when you picked me up my books for me that day, you did a lot more. You saved my life.

THE THREE TREES

Once upon a mountain top, three little trees stood up and dreamed of what they wanted to become when they grew up. The first tree looked up at the stars and said, "I want to hold treasure. I want to covered with gold and filled with precious stones. I'll the most beautiful treasure in the world. The second little tree looked out at the small stream trickling by on its way to the ocean. "I want to be travelling mighty waters and carry powerful kings. I'll be the strongest ship in the world!" The third tree looked down in to the valley below where busy men and women worked in a busy town. "I want to grow so tall that when people stop to look at me, they will raise their eyes to heaven and think of God. I will the tallest tree in the world. Years passed. the rain came the sun shone, and the little trees grew tall. One day three woodcutters climbed the mountain. the first woodcutter looked at first tree and said, "This tree is beautiful. It is perfect for me". With a swoop of his shining axe, the first tree fell. " Now I shall be made into a beautiful chest. I shall hold wonderful treasure !" the first tree said. The second woodcutter looked at the second tree and said, "This tree is strong. Is perfect for me." With a swoop of his shinning axe, the second tree fell. "Now I shall sail mighty waters be a strong ship for mighty kings." The third tree felt her heart sink when the last wood cutter looked at her way. She stood straight and tall and pointed bravely to heaven. But the wood cutter never even looked up. "Any kind of tree will do for me." he muttered. With a swoop of his shining axe, the third tree fell. The first tree rejoiced when the woodcutter brought her to a carpenters shop. but the carpenter fashioned the tree into a feedbox for animals. the once beautiful tree was not covered with gold, with treasure. She was coated with sawdust and filled with hay for hungry farm animals. The second tree smiled when the woodcutter took her to a shipyard, but no mighty sailing ship was made that day. Instead, the once strong tree was hammered and sawed into a simple fishing boat. She was too small and too week to sail to an ocean, or even a river; instead she was taken to a little lake. The third tree was confused when the woodcutter cut her into strong beams and left her in a lumberyard. "What happened?" the once tall tree wondered. "All I ever wanted was to stay on the mountain top and point to God..." Many days and nights passed. The three little trees nearly forgot their dreams. But one night, golden starlight poured over the first tree as a young woman placed her newborn baby in the feedbox. I wish I could make a cradle for him," her husband whispered. The mother squeezed his hand and smiled as the starlight shone on the smooth and sturdy wood. "This manger is beautiful." she said . And suddenly the first tree knew he was holding the greatest treasure in the world. One evening a tired traveler and his friends crowded into the old fishing boat. The traveler fell asleep as the second tree quietly sailed out into the lake. Soon a thunder and thrashing storm arose. The little tree shuddered. She knew she did not have the strength to carry so many passengers safely though the wind and the rain. The tired man awakened. He stood up stretched out his hand and said, "Peace." The storm stopped as quickly as it had begun. And suddenly the second tree knew she was carrying the king of heaven and earth. One Friday morning, the third tree was startled when her beams were yanked from the forgotten woodpile. She flinched as she was carried through an angry jeering crowd. She shuddered when soldiers nailed a man's hands to her. She felt ugly and harsh and cruel. But on Sunday morning, when the sun rose and the earth trembled with joy beneath her, the tree knew God's love had changed everything. It had made first tree beautiful. It had made the second tree strong. And everytime people thought of third tree... they would think God

John 3:16

Just take some time and read this. Believe me you'll feel a whole lot better about life and yourself. Sometimes we need to just stop and think about what is really important. Not material things but our own well being !! A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner, the people were in and out of the cold. The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell many papers. He walked up to a policeman and said, "Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight would you? You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight. Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay." The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You go down the street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they come out the door you just say John 3:16, and they will let you in." So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door, and a lady answered. He looked up and said, "John 3:16." The lady said, "Come on in, Son." She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big fireplace, and she went off. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself: John 3:16...I don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm. Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry?" He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food," The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat any more. Then he thought to himself: John 3:16...Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure makes a hungry boy full. She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a while. As he soaked, he thought to himself: John 3:16... I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big fire hydrant as they flushed it out. The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room, tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the window at the snow coming down on that cold night, he thought to himself: John 3:16...I don't understand it but it sure makes a tired boy rested. The next morning the lady came back up and took him down again to that same big table full of food. After he ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom rocker in front of the fireplace and picked up a big Bible. She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face. "Do you understand John 3:16?" She asked gently. He replied, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it was last night when the policeman told me to use it," She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain to him about Jesus. Right there, in front of that big old fireplace, he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and thought: John 3:16....don't understand it, but it sure makes a lost boy feel safe. You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either, how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end. I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. If you aren't ashamed to do this, please follow the directions. Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father." Pass this on only if you mean it. I do Love God. He is my source of existence. He keeps me functioning each and every day. Phil 4:13 If you love God and are not ashamed of all the marvelous things he has done for you, send this on. Take 60 seconds & give this a shot! Let's just see if Satan stops this one. All you do is: 1) Simply say a small prayer for the person who sent you this, "Father, God bless this person in whatever it is that You know he or she may be needing this day!"

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (Keep this In mind if you are one of those grouches;)

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and Lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with you your entire life, is yourself. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health. If it is good, preserve it. I f it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

THE LETTER

Ruth went to her mailbox and there was only one letter. She picked it up and looked at it before opening, but then she looked at the envelope again. There was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address. She read the letter: Dear Ruth, I'm going to be in your neighborhood Saturday afternoon I would like to stop by for a visit. Love Always, Jesus. Her hands were shaking as she placed the letter on the table. "Why would the Lord want to visit me? I'm nobody special. I don't have anything to offer." With that thought, Ruth remembered her empty kitchen cabinets. "Oh my goodness, I really don't have anything to offer. I'll have to run down to the store and buy something for dinner." She reached for her purse and counted out its contents. Five dollars and forty cents. "Well, I can get some bread and cold cuts, at least." She threw on her coat and hurried out the door. A loaf of french bread, a half-pound of sliced turkey, and a carton of milk...leaving Ruth with grand total of twelve cents to last her until Monday. Nonetheless, she felt good as she headed home, her meager offerings tucked under her arm. "Hey lady, can you help us, lady?" Ruth had been so absorbed in her dinner plans, she hadn't even noticed two figures huddled in the alleyway. A man and a woman, both of them dressed in little more than rags. "Look lady, I ain't got a job, ya know, and my wife and I have been living out here on the street, and, well, now it's getting cold and we're getting kinda hungry and, well, if you could help us, lady, we'd really appreciate it." Ruth looked at them both. They were dirty, they smelled bad and, frankly, she was certain that they could get some kind of work if they really wanted to. "Sir, I'd like to help you, but I'm a poor woman myself. All I have is a few cold cuts and some bread, and I'm having an important guest for dinner tonight and I was planning on serving that to Him." "Yeah, well, okay lady, I understand. Thanks anyway." The man put his arm around the woman's shoulders, turned and headed back into the alley. As she watched them leave, Ruth felt a familiar twinge in her heart. "Sir, wait!" The couple stopped and turned as she ran down the alley after them. "Look, why don't you take this food. I'll figure out something else to serve my guest." She handed the man her grocery bag. "Thank you lady. Thank you very much!" "Yes, thank you!" It was the man's wife, and Ruth could see now that she was shivering. "You know, I've got another coat at home. Here, why don't you take this one." Ruth unbuttoned her jacket and slipped it over the woman's shoulders. Then smiling, she turned and walked back to the street...without her coat and with nothing to serve her guest. "Thank you lady! Thank you very much!" Ruth was chilled by the time she reached her front door, and worried too. The Lord was coming to visit and she didn't have anything to offer Him. She fumbled through her purse for the door key.But as she did, she noticed another envelope in her mailbox. "That'sodd. The mailman doesn't usually come twice in one day." She took the envelope out of the box and opened it. Dear Ruth, It was so good to see you again. Thank you for the lovely meal And thank you, too, for the beautiful coat. Love Always, Jesus The air was still cold, but even without her coat, Ruth no longer noticed.
