Love Will Be Our Home
By: Sandy Patty

If home is really where the heart is, then home must be a place we all can share.
For even with our differences, our hearts are much the same.
For where love is, we come together there.

Wherever there is laughter ringing, someone smiling, someone dreaming;
We can live together there; Love will be our home.
Wherever there are children singing, where a tender heart is beating;
We can live together there, 'cause love will be our home.

With love, our hearts can be a family, and hope can bring this family face to face.
And though we may be far apart, our hearts can beat as one
When love brings us together in one place.

Wherever there is laughter ringing, someone smiling, someone dreaming;
We can live together there; Love will be our home.
Where there are words of kindness spoken, where a vow is never broken;
We can live together there, 'cause love will be our home.

Love will, love will be our home;
Love will, love will be our home.
Love will, love will be our home;
Love will, love will be our home.

Wherever there is laughter ringing, someone smiling, someone dreaming;
We can live together there; Love will be our home.
Wherever there are children singing, where a tender heart is beating;
We can live together there, 'cause love will be our home.

Love will, love will be our home;
Love will, love will be our home.
Love will, love will be our home;
Love will, love will be our home.

Wherever there is laughter ringing, someone smiling, someone dreaming;
We can live together there, 'cause love will be our home.
Love will be our home!

SECRETS OF A GOOD RELATIONSHIP

Forming good relationships takes a lot of looking. But looking can be fun.

What you learn about yourself will infinitely help in trying to understand others

Relationship are not sportling events. Stop wresting for control. No one ever wins this kind of match except divorce lawyers

See problems as small miracles which can bring aboout knowlegde change

Even though maintaining your integrity as a person, strive to make yourself one with another. You can do this best if you make each one "THE ONE".

Be polite. Love does not give license for rudness

When you angry of someone it might be well to stop and consider all the things you like about them before you respond.

Don't allow your relationships to die of neglect.

Expect what is reasonable, not what is perfect.

If a partner in a relationship is willing to give 75% of him or her self, then you will have 50% more than you need for a perfect relationship.

Don't be concerned about what you can get to a relationship. Instead, concern yourself with what you can bring to it.

Stop playing games. A growing relationship can only be nurtured by genuineness

Even though you are only half of a relationship, you must remain a whole person apart from the relationship

Stop all worry. Most of what you are worried about you'll have difficulty remembering a week later.

Acknowledge the humanness of the other.

Exercise feelings. Feeling have meaning only as they are expressed in action.

Keep examining the nature of each relationship for they are dynamic, not static, and are, therefor, changing for better or worse.

Don't make the others problems yours. It only makes solving it twice as difficult.

After an argument is over, forget it

Learn to bend. It's better than breaking.

Let go of PRIDE. It is ussually false creates barriers and prevents closeness.

Watch for a little irritations, they grow into destructive monsters. Verbalize them at once.

Learn to listen. You don't learn anything from hearing yourself talk.

Be compassionate. It is the sure way to understand and acceptance.

See all criticism as positive for it leads to self-evaluation. You are always free to reject it, if it is unfair or does not apply

If you take time to talk together each day you'll never become strangers.

See people good and beautifull, even when they seem to be trying hard not to appear so.

Divorce, fighting, arguing will never solve your problem; better to try understanding, warmth and flexibility.

Value yourself. The only people; who appreciate a doormat are people with dirty shoes.

Grow up together constantly

Take your time

Never idealize others. They will never live up to your expectations

Don't think of forever. Think of now, and forever will take care of itself

Expect to invest a great deal of time and energy in your relationships don't just just happen, they are created.

Remove price tags from people. Everyone has worth; the excitement lies the discovey of their value.

Respect the others person's relationship apart from you. If they are important to the one you care about, they should be important to you.

Recognize that all relationships cannot be forever. Recognize their temporary quality, but continue to act if they are permanent.

Never forced anyone to do anything for you "in the name of love." Love is not o be bargained for.

Don't be afraid.

There are times when you may want to give up on a relationship, but never give up on relating.

Don't lose touch with the craziness in you. This with a large dose of caring, will assure you that your relationship will never be boring.

And lastly Christ must be the center and foundation of your relationship. Remember, a good foundation leads to a lasting relationship. GODSPEED.
A SHORT STORY

There was a skinny young boy who loved football with all his heart. Practice after practice, he eagerly gave everything he had. But being half the size of the boys, he got absolutely nowhere. At all the games this hopeful athlete sat on the bench and hardly ever played. This teenager lived alone with his father, and the two of them had a very special relationship. Even though the son was always on the bench, his father was always in the stands cheering. He never missed a game. This young man was still the smallest of the class when he entered high school. But his father continued to encourage him but also made it very clear that he did not have to play football if he didn't want to. But the young man loved football and decided to hang in there. He was determined to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he'd get to play when he became a senior. All through high school he never missed a practice nor a game but remained a bench-warmer all four years. His faithful father was always in the stands, always with words of encouragement for him. When the young man went to college, he decided to try out for the football team as a "walk-in." Everyone was sure he could never make the cut, but he did. The coach admitted that he kept him on the roster because he always puts his heart and soul into every practice, and at the same time, provided the other members with the spirit and hustle they badly needed. The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father. His father shared his excitement and was sent reason tickets for all the college games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice during his four years at college, but he never got to play in a game. It was the end of his senior football season, and as he trotted onto the practice field shortly before the big playoff game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the telegram and he became deathly silent. Swallowing hard, he mumbled to the coach, "My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?" The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, "Take the rest of the week off, son. And don't even plan to come back to the game on Saturday." Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. In the third quarter, when the team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his football gear. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players were astounded to see their faithful teammate back so soon. "Coach, please let me play. I've just got to play today," said the young man. The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his worst player in this close playoff game. But the young man persisted, and finally feeling sorry for the kid, the coach gave in. "All right," he said. "You can go in." Before long, the coach, the players and everyone in the stands could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never played before was doing everything right. The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, he passed, blocked, and tackled like a star. His team began to triumph. The score was soon tied. In the closing seconds of the game, this kid intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose. His teammates hoisted him onto their shoulders. Such cheering you never heard. Finally, after the stands had emptied and the team had showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed that this young man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone. The coach came to him and said, "Kid, I can't believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?" He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you knew my Dad died, but did you know that he was blind?" The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, "Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show him I could do it!"

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The park bench was deserted as I sat down to read. Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree. Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown, For the world was intent on dragging me down. And if that weren't enough to ruin my day, A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play. He stood right before me with his head tilted down And he said with great excitement, "Look what I found!" In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight, With its petals all worn - not enough rain, or too little light. I want him to take his dead flower and go off to play, I faked a small smile and then shifted away. But instead of retreating he sat next to my side And placed the flower to his nose, and declared with overacted surprise, "It sure smells pretty and it's beautiful, too. That's why I picked it; here, it's for you." The weed before me was dying or dead. Not vibrant of colors: orange, yellow or red. But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave. So I reached for the flower, and replied, "Just what I need." But instead of him placing the flower in my hand, He held it midair without reason or plan. It was then that I noticed for the very first time That weed-toting boy could not see: he was blind. I heard my voice quiver; tears shone in the sun As I thanked him for picking the very best one. "You're welcome," he smiled, and then ran off to play, Unaware of the impact he'd had on my day. I sat there and wondered how he managed to see A self-pitying woman beneath an old willow tree. How did he know of my self-indulged plight? Perhaps from his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight. Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see The problem was not with the world; the problem was me. And for all of those times I myself had been blind, I vowed to see the beauty in life, and appreciate every second that's mine. And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose And breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose And smiled as I watched that young boy, another weed in his hand, About to change the life of an unsuspecting old man.

JUDGE ME BY THE FOOTPRINTS I LEAVE BEHIND

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco. "Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor to ask. I have a friend I'd like to bring me with me." "Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him." "There's something you should know," the son continued, "he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mind and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us." "I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to live." "No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us." "Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we can't let something like this interfere with our lives. "I think you should just come home and forget about this. He'll find a way to live on his own." At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing more from him. A few days later, however, they received a call from the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg. The parents in this story are like many of us. We find it easy to love those who are good-looking or fun to have around, but we don't like people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. We would rather stay away from people who aren't as healthy, beautiful, or smart as we are. Thankfully, there's someone who won't treat us that way. Someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes us into the forever family, regardless of how messed up we are. Tonight, before you tuck yourself in for the night, say a little prayer that God will give you the strength you need to accept people as they are, and to help us all be more understanding of those who are different from us!!! There's a miracle called Friendship that dwells in the heart. You don't know how it happens or when it gets started, but you know the special lift it always brings and you realize that Friendship is God's most precious gift! Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us. Show your friends how much you care....

ALWAYS SAY I LOVE YOU

I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord, your soul to keep. If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more. If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would video tape each action and word, so I could play them back day after day. If I knew it would be the last time,I could spare an extra minute or two to stop and say "I love you," instead of assuming, you would KNOW I do. If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day, well I'm sure you'll have so many more, so I can let just this one slip away. For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we always get a second chance to make everything right. There will always be another day to say "I love you," and certainly there's another chance to say "Anything I can do?" But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I love you and I hope we never forget. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, and today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight. So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day, That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss, and you were too busy to grant someone what turned out to be their one last wish. So hold your loved ones close today, whisper in their ear. Tell them how much you love them and that you'll always hold them dear. Take time to say "I'm sorry," "please forgive me," "thank you" or "it's okay." And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.

ATTITUDE

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room. Instead the angels were given a space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied..." Things aren't always what they seem". The next night the pair comes to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel " how could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him", she accused. "The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let their cow die. "Things aren't always what they seem", the older angel replied. "When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it. Then last night as we slept in the farmer's bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave her the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem." Sometimes this is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later. You may never know. Some rules to live by.... Should you find it hard to get to sleep tonight, remember the homeless who have no bed. Should you find yourself stuck in traffic, remember that there are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege. Should you have a bad day at work, think of the people who have been out of work for months. Should you bemoan the another weekend that passed too quickly, think about the single moms who work twelve hour days, seven days a week, just to put food on the table. Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance, remember paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk. Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror, think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine. Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities, remember, things could be worse. You could be them!!!! Should you decide to send this to a friend, you might brighten their day!

How Poor Are We ?

One day...a wealthy family man took his son on a trip to the country so he could have his son see how poor the country people were.. They stayed one day and one night on the farm in a very humble farm house. At the end of the trip and back home the father asked the son: What did you think of the trip? The son replied: Very nice Dad Father: Did you noticed how poor they were? Son: Yes Father: What did you learn? Son: I learned that we have one dog in our house...and they have four. We have a fountain in the garden and they have a stream that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our garden goes to the edge of our property, they have the entire horizon as their back yard. At the end of the son's reply the father was speechless and his son added: "Thank you dad for showing me how poor we really are." Isn't it true that all depends on the lens you use to see life?

EXPLAIN GOD
Written by Danny Dutton, age 8, from Chula Vista, California, for his third grade homework assignment

One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grown-ups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way, He doesn't have to take up His valuable time teaching them to talk and walk, He can just leave that to mothers and fathers. God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times besides bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. Because He hears everything there must be a terrible lot of noise in His ears, unless He has thought of a way to turn it off. God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting His time by going over yourMom and dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have.Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church. Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work like walking on water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't want to learn about God. They finally got tired of Him preaching to them and they crucified Him. But He was good and kind of like His Father and He told His Father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said OK. His Dad (God) appreciated everything that He had done and all His hard work on earth so He told Him He didn't have to go out on the road anymore, He could stay in heaven. So He did. And now He helps His Dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones He can take care of Himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary only more important. You can pray anytime you, want and they are sure to hear you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the times. You should always go to Church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God. Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong! And, besides, the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway. If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared in the dark or when you can't swim very good and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids. But you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and He can take me back anytime He pleases. And that's why I believe in God." 1
