Traveling Companions

Bring Joy To The Journey

Traveling Companions make such a difference on the Journey. Some companions
we choose, some are chosen for us and some companions choose us. We must learn
to travel with them. The quality of our journey will be largely determined by
our traveling companions.

My constant companion is, of course, my husband. He is my best friend in this world.
We've been married 26 years now and they have been the very best years of my life.
We travel together very well. He takes care of me now without a complaint.
And is the best chef a girl could ask for.

Everyone likes to brag about their kids. I'm no exception. We'll have a
picture of them to show you and shouldn't have to say another word.

Kay and Paul here in town not far from us. The boys are grown now and living
on their own. We miss them but are proud to see them out and doing well.

This is a more recent picture of Craig and Eric.

Jim and Wilma live in Oklahoma. We don't see them as often now. It's quite a
long drive for them to come home and they don't get much time off work.
They are both animal lovers and have lots of pets. I hope to have a picture
or two to share with you one of these days.

When we lived in Overland Park we met a young couple who soon became our
surrogate family. John and Peggi have been wonderful friends ever since.
Their four kids call us Grandma and Grandpa and we have enjoyed them so much.
Everyone needs good friends like these to take on their journey.

We have some people in our lives that have been a special part of our journey. All of us do. I want to introduce you to some of the important people in my life. I won't get them all by any means but will keep adding them as time goes by.

My Dad's youngest brother is the last of his generation now. Uncle Jack and Aunt Lucille have been around when I needed them for all my life. So many times I've found myself in their home or them with me in a hospital waiting to see how Mom was doing. Aunt Lucille is gone now but certainly not forgotten. Their daughter, my cousin Joy, is a good friend as well as family. Our computers keep us in touch with each other at least on a weekly basis if not daily at times.

This picture of Joy and Uncle Jack was taken at a family reunion.

Some friends last a lifetime. Kitty and I went to school together and have been in and out of each other's lives ever since. We giggle together like school girls and have shared each other's sorrow too.

Lucy and I worked together for more years than either of us care to remember. Our friendship has lasted long and we shared many long hard days. We've also had many laughs along the way.

Norma and Lorie are good friends and have been for a long, long time. Life without them would not be nearly as pleasant. We first met them almost 25 years ago. They've been helping us keep our home organized ever since. We've raised our kids together. suffered losses together and struggled through illness. Now, with my problems, they are here for us more than ever. Companions like these make the road so much smoother.

When Ralph and I first met we began to meet each other's friends and family. John and Marilyn were the first of his friends that he introduced me to. They have been good solid friends ever since. We were surrogate Aunt and Uncle to their children and always invited to the graduations, weddings and other landmark events. Sadly, we lost John to Cancer a few years ago and miss him very much but Marilyn is still a part of our lives and their children are in touch by e=mail at least weekly. They are all married with children of their own now. Some friends just last forever.

This page too is under construction. It will take a while to find all my traveling buddies.
