Sunhee Rinker
Welcome To The Family!!
On October 17, 1999, Park,Sunhee joined our family.  The wedding was beautiful but how could it be anything else with such a beautiful bride?  Eddy and I were lucky enough to go to Korea to attend the wedding.
Sunhee's mother and I wore the traditional costume called a Hanbock. The actual wedding was Western Style - a lot like we have here in the States.
Sunhee and her father, as he walked her down the aisle to give her hand in marriage.
Afterwards a traditional ceremony called Paebek was held.  This is to introduce the families and join them together.  The bride and groom pour a drink for each member of their family (one at a time) and the family member accepts the drink and eats a piece of dried fruit from a fruit bowl.
The honeymoon was a little bit untraditional.  Eddy and I went with them.  This was only because time was short and we had to catch a plane.  We went to Kyongju and did a lot of sightseeing and then the long drive back to Seoul so we could leave the next day.  Frank and Sunhee had much to do because they were leaving for the States the first part of November.
When Frank and Sunhee got to the States, we gave them a wedding party so our family and friends could attend.  We showed Sunhee some of our traditions, such as cutting the cake and giving each other a bite.  I wrote a poem for the toast and then the couple opened gifts.  This was new to Sunhee because in Korea they don't receive gifts - they receive envelopes with money in them to help pay for the honeymoon.

We all had a very nice time.  Sunhee had taken her photo albums of the wedding and everybody enjoyed looking at them.

A few days after the party, they had to leave for Maryland, where Frank was stationed.  He has since retired from the Army and they are living in Virginia.

We are all planning another trip to Korea as soon as it is possible.  And, we hope her family will be able to come to the U.S. to visit.
