News for 2001
This year is as stressful as last year was.

Mike started the year working for Randstad. They had a job for him for about a week.  So he put out some feelers and got a month contract through our own business of Valley-Wide Computer Services.  Things slowed down again. In June he went to work for Kwik Scapes and has been a mechanic ever since. Now that winter (is suppose to be) here, he is doing small engine repair for them.

On January 29th, Sandy got a job at a place where Mike had done temp work. It is full time as receptionist and Data Entry. Of course the job started including more things to do since they want to make certain they are getting their money's worth.  Mid-July, she was laid-off along with 27 other people. A week later she found a job in a doctor's office at a lower rate of pay. But now days, any job is income. (quit groaning - LOL). She is enjoying her job as much as one can and even got a raise after her 90 days was up. The Dr. has a Family Practice and also is a Dr. of Osteopathy so he does spinal adjustments and bone manipulations.

Duane attended CAI (Computer Aided Instruction) again for the first part of this year. He didn't go back to Crossroads Alternative Middle School when his expulsion was finished on April 1st. We worked it out with Vantage Point that he would continue to go to CAI, attend Summer School, and then enroll in Thornton High School in the Fall. At that point, they will put him in Vantage Point Alternative High School. He quit attending the one class at Summer School and was automatically given an F and withdrawn for the class.  He started at CAI in the Fall and was expelled until the end of the 2001 - 2002 school year for non-attendance. When he turns 16 in April, he has the choice of never going back to High School. I'm sure you know what we think about that..

Lanine lost her job with Fleet car in January. She moved out March 10th and had a severe car accident the same day.  She is still has occasional pain  from the whiplash and bruises to her chest (from the seatbelt) and her knees/legs (from the dash). The car was hit at 40 to 50 miles an hour head-on. She was waiting to turn at a Red Light when the light turned red and other car headed northbound lost control & hit her.  So she used her savings for college and bought another car. the End of May she was sitting at a red light  (to go straight) with a car in front of her and a car behind her when she was hit from behind.  A Semi-tractor Trailer had failed to stop (wasn't paying attention) and rammed the Ryder/Uhaul type truck behind her which popped up and came down on her trunk. Thus Car #2 was totaled but with no damage to Lanine. The car was replaced by the Semi Company. She started a job shortly there after and quit it a couple of months later. Her boss ended up being one of the people that laid her off from Fleet Car (evidently he lost his right after she did at Fleet Car). She has plans to start Massage Therapy Classes after the first of the new year.

Sandy  is still a Council Trainer for Program Aides (teenage Girl Scouts) and a Program Aide Task Force Member. There was no camp in 2001 because Council made an executive decision based on "demographics" to close it. This was heartbreaking to Sandy because the 1,226 girls in the Adams County Day Camp area suffered.  The Council made a camp in Broomfield with the same topic and held it the same week as the Adams County Camp was normally held. It barely had enough girls to run it as a camp. It is still unknown if there will be a camp in 2002 but Sandy will not be directing it. There are too many politics involved so Sandy is bowing out and paying her Lifetime Membership to National Girl Scouts.

Sandy & Lanine have discovered Graphic Programs and love making graphics with them. Lanine adopts out the
Dragons that she makes. Sandy gives away the Snowglobes she makes. Both of them make backgrounds and Snowglobes and are learning to do more with them.  Sandy also teaches friends and family how to build their own pages.

As far as Angela and her family goes......we have no clue......
