Wallace W. Abbott, age 71, of 1337 Dougherty Dr., Morristown,died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1992, at Humana Hospital of Morristown after a lenghty illness. He was with American Enka for 38 years, holding various management positions at Lowland in Asheville, N.C. He became Tennessee operations Manager at Lowland in 1969. His accomplishments were many, as he was unselfish with his time. Exalted Ruler Elks Lodge No. 1667 from 1960-1961. President of the Morristown Country Club 1974. Morristown Chamber of Commerce Director 1970-1972, the American Red Cross Board of Directors 1970-1976. Walter State Distinguished Service Award for foundation of Board of Trustees 1975-1977, past member Tennessee Manufacturing Association member of First Presbyterian Church, Morristown, and graduate of Clemson University. He was born in Waihalla, S.C., on Oct 20, 1920. He was the son of the late, Lucian D. and Florence Rankin Abbott. Survivors: wife, Augusta A. Abbott; brother, Dr. Clarence Abbott; step-son, Dr. James. M. Pless; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday at Stetzer Funeral Home, Morristown with the Rev. Lassie Lou Abner, 59, of the Medford Community, Lake City, Rt. 1, died February 4, at Methodist Mecical Center of Oak Ridge. She became ill at Anderson County High School, where she was a teacher in the vocational improvement program and English department. She had taught in the Anderson County School system since 1958. She began teaching at Rosedale School and transferred to Lake City High School in 1959. After a 15-year absence, she returned to Clinton High School in 1977 and transferred to Lake City High School in 1978. She had been at ACHS since 1982. Miss Abner was a member of the Anderson County Education Association, the Tennessee Education Association and the National Education Association. She was a member of Clear Branch Baptist church, where she served as clerk. Her parents were the late Buel and Bertha Alice Hatmaker Abner. She was born September 19, 1933, in Anderson County. Miss Abner received her bachelor's degree from Carson-Newman College and later continued her education at Carson Newman, the University of Kentucky, Georgia Southern College, West Georgia College and the University of Tennessee. Survivors include a sister, Barbara Roysden of Wichita Falls, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Wanda Abner of Clinton and Carl and Jean Abner of Rome, Ga.; several nieces and hephews, and many friends. Services were held Monday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Powell, The Rev. Mike Abernathy and the Rev. Rocky Abernathy officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Reece K. Acuff, age 73, of Knoxville, passed away Friday morning at his home. Member of First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville. For his true love of the arts he was a renaissance man and a southern gentleman. He was a painter in oils and a woodcarver. He played viola for the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with degrees in Business and a Ph.D. in Law. He taught at U.T. and Knoxville College for many years. He was a meteorologist in Nashville for American Airlines and the Air Transport command in WWII. Pioneered T.V. Meteorology with Channell 26, on Sharp's Ridge. He won prizes for design and assisting to build Boxwood Hall, the family home. He was an Elder and teacher of the James Park Sunday School Class at First Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Judd an Birdie Acuff. Survived by wife of 38 wonderful years, Doris Fowler Acuff and daughter, Rise' Kaye Acuff, both of Knoxville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harmon C. and Carlota Fowler, Jacksonville, Fla; niece, Terri Fowler; nephews, Carl and Mark Fowler, all of Jacksonville, Fla. Funeral services Monday, 11 a.m. at Gentry-Griffey Chapel, Dr. G. Carswell Hughs and Rev. John H. Bell officiating. Interment Lynnhurst Cemetery. The Rev. Donald (Don) Andrew Adams, 32, and his son, Joel Andrew Adams, 8 died Wednesday afternoon as the result of injuries sustained in an accident while bicycling near their home in Andersonville. The Rev. Adams had been pastor of the Andersonville First Baptist Church since January 3, 1988. He came to Andersonville from Chalmette, La., where he was pastor of the Chalmette First Baptist Church for five years. He was a graduate of Mercer University and earned a masters of divinity in 1985 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He had also worked as a summer missionary and was chairman of the Associational Youth Committee. Mr. Adams also was active with the Clinton Baptist Association and local ministerial association. He was beloved by the community, friends said. Mr. Adams had coached basketball at Norris Middle School and Little League soccer. A sister, Marilyn Adams, died Oct 8, 1989. Joel was a third grade student at the Fairview Elementary School. Survivors include wife and mother, Suzanne Sandolo Adams; daughter and sister, Lyndsey Adams; son and brother, Johathan Adams; parents and grandparents, Charles and Helen Adams of Atlanta, Ga.; Joseph and Sylvia Sandolo of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.; brother and uncle, Gary Adams of Atlanta; and brother-in-law and uncle, Michael Sandolo of Boise, Idaho. Services were held Friday night at the Andersonville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Pinkerton and the Rev. James K. Pierce officiating. Burial was Saturday afternoon at the Westview Cemetery in Atlanta with the Rev. Joseph McDaniel officiating. Mrs. Akers was born Feburary 10, 1897, in Warrensville, Ohio, to the late Edward and Jenny Hughes Castle.She and her late husband, M.J. Akers, were married December 24, 1919, in Warrensville. She also had lived in Oak Ridge for 46 years. A homemaker, she was a member of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge where she was a member of the Martha and Mary Circle. She also belonged to the AARP. A favorite pasttime was crocheting. She also enjoyed being with her family. An infant son, two sisters and a brother, also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son-in-law, Frank Fuis of Norris; sister, Mildred Wentz; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Harry Fowler, all of Brecksville, Ohio; grandchildren, Gary Fuis and his wife, Stacey, of LaHonda, Calif; Anita Beets of Knoxville; Barbara and Brian Kruse of Huntersville, N.C.; Jeff Shepherd and wife, Sara, of Oak Ridge; Brian Fuis and wife, Eydie, of Las Vegas, Nev.; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 101, died Friday at Regency Health Care Center in Norris. He was the father of Ethel Fuis of Norris. Mr. Akers retired at age 67. He was a rigger at the Union Carbide Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge. He later retired from his job as a custodian at Kern United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, where he also was a member. His parents were the late Martin Luther and Lydia Akers. Mr. Akers was born August 15, 1891, in Heyter's Gap, Va. He married Helen Castle, by whom he is survived, neal Cleveland, Ohio, in December of 1919. An infant son, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Akers served with the Army in France. In earlier years, he had worked in construction and had kept his membership in a local ironworkers union. Before his health failed, he enjoyed gardening and tending the lawn, flowers and shrubs at his Oak Ridge home. In addision to his wife and the Norris daughter, survivors include a son-in-law, Frank Fuis Jr. of Norris; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Services were held Monday in the chapel at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. John Trundle and the Rev. E.C. Vestal officiating. Burial was at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

80, of Greenwood Drive, Clinton, died of cancer August 10 at his home. Mr. Amos was the son of Henry and Anna Belle Craig Amos. He was born March 10, 1913 in Lafollette. He worked in coal mines in Tennessee and West Virginia for 17 years before moving to Manhattan Avenue in Oak Ridge. He worked for Tennessee Eastman Corp. at the Y-12 Plant as a stationary engineer in the Utilities Division. He later worked for Union Carbide Corp. for 31 years, retiring on March 31, 1975. He also was co-owner of a Texaco Service Station in Lake City and a former member of the Anderson County Rescue Squad. His hobby was working refrigerators and cars. He also enjoyed bowling and visiting with friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Ward Amos, on October 14, 1975. Mr. Amos is survived by his wife, Kate Penland Amos; daughters, Bobbie Carter of Virginia Beach, Fa.; Arlene Brown of Oliver Springs; sons, Randell Barton Amos, Jr. of Midland, Texas; Donald Amos of Crossville and Larry Amos of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Arnold Amos of Vasper and Leon Amos of Lake city; sisters, Wilma Johnson of Oak Ridge; Mildred Dabney of Sandusky, Ohio; Jean Beach of Clearwater, Fla. Born July 2, 1919, in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Standish and Pearl Patterson Armes. Mr. Armes lived in the Marlow community where he was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired WACO truck driver. A distinguished U.S. Army veteran during World War II, he received the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern campaign ribbons; good conduct medal, four bronze stars and the World War II Victory Medal. He participated in the battles of Normandy, Northern Springs, Rhineland and Central Europe. Mr. Armes was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Lively Armes in 1978; sisters, Lucille Marsiglia and Flossie (Jack) Armes; and brothers, Frank and Millard Armes. Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia J. Jack McMillan Armstrong, 69, of Lenoir City and St. Augustine, Fla., died Wednesday morning at Park West Medical Center. He was a member of the martel United Methodist Church. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Class of 1949, he lettered in football for three years as a blocking and running back under Gen. Bob Neyland. He bagan his career as football coach at Madisonville. Later, he coached at Oak Ridge from 1952-1969 including two state championship teams and one national championship team in 1958. After leaving Oak Ridge, Mr. Armstrong coached at Ormond Beach and St. Augustine, Fla., from 1969 until his retirement in 1984. After his retirement, he returned to coach at Tennessee Military Institute at Sweetwater for two years and operated a golf driving range. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Armstrong was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and Disabled American Veterans. He also was a member of the Oak Ridge Sports Hall of Fame and of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bowden Armstrong; daughters and son-in-law, Sally A. and David L. Cook of Chattanooga; Nancy J. Armstrong of St. Augustine; two grandsons, Thomas Armstrong Gelsomino and Jonathan McCillan Cook; a sister, Charlotte M. Hagar of Vero Beach, Fla.; brothers, Eugene S. A former Anderson County teacher, Mary (Bid) Artman, 82, of 100 Hilltop Lane, Norris, died Sunday at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Artman retired in 1973 after teaching at Norris High School, Norris Elementary and at the old Glen Alpine Elementary School. Born October 11, 1909, in South Fork, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Fred J. and Elizabeth Jeffrey Bailey. Mrs. Artman attended Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana, Pa., and Seaton Hill College in Greensburg, Pa. She began teaching in 1929 in Pennsylvania. She also attended the University of Tennessee for two years. Mrs. Artman, a member of Norris Religious Fellowship, enjoyed needlework and was an avid reader. Survivors include her husband, James O. Artman, whom she married June 4, 1934, in Mont Alto, Pa.; three sons and daughters-in-law, James B. and Lisa Artman of Euless, Texas; Joel D. and Pat Artman of Charlottesville, Va.,; and Jerry M. and Yvonne Artman of Tabernacle, N.J.; a brother, Fred J. Bailey Jr. of Spring Grove, Pa.; and by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held later. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Norris Religious Fellowship, P.O. Box 267, Norris, Tenn. 27828, or the United Parkinson Foundation, 360 W. Superior St., Chicago, Ill. 60610. Holley Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Lou Ault, 84, died Saturday at the Anderson County Health Care Center. She was born October 13, 1909, in clinton to the late William Riley and Rebecca Ann Weaver Dagley. Mrs. Aulto was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Magnet Mills in Clinton. Her husband, Alva G. Ault, died in 1982. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jenny A. and Laurel O. Boyles; grandchildren, Kristi P. and Angela D. Boyles, all of Clemons, N.C. a brother, Everett Robert Dagley of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Monday at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Delbert Payne officiating. Burial was Tuesday at Black Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jewell Dean Ault 62, of Wil-Loyd Drive, Knoxville, died Wednesday in St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. Mrs. Ault was born Dec. 27, 1931, in Anderson County to the late Claude D. and Beatrice Vowell Fraker. She was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in Knoxville. Mrs. Ault was a former employee of Anderson County Garage. Survivors include her husband, J.C. Ault; sona dn daughter-in-law, James and Kim Ault of Knoxville; grandchildren, Brent, Crystal and Lance Ault, all of Knoxville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Bill Walker of Knoxville; Loetta and Bud Hopson of Athens; and a nephew, Chuck Walker of Knoxville. Services were Saturday night in Holley-Gamble Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James McCluskey officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Zion Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Austin and parents, John Richard and Ida Webb McGhee. Survivors include a sister, Bertha Brummitt of Knoxville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Monday in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with tyhe Rev. Johnny Owens officiating. Burial was in the Methodist Cemetery.
