            ELIZABETH BEATRICE KING, daughter of Elizabeth and Thomas King, was born 29 December 1811 in Tennessee and died 26 August 1889 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            Elizabeth married ca. 1833 in Tennessee to Mr. David Burrows, son of Elizabeth and Anthony Burrows, who was born 27 October 1810 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 5 October 1810 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He is buried beside his wife in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            They are listed in the 1860 Census of Nacogdoches County, Texas as seen below.

William Muckleroy Burrows, born 16 August 1835 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 8 October 1907 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  William is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He married 1st 18 December 1856 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Lydia Elizabeth Coats, daughter of Nancy Neal and Daniel Polignac Coats, who was born 14 October 1841 in Alabama.  He married 2nd. on 25 August 1872 to Fanny M. Spinks in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  William married 3rd. 7 January 1875 to Susan A. Grace.  Susan was born 20 October 1855 and died 22 October 1893 and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

 

2. Lavinia Burrows, born 24 December 1836 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 1837 in Grundy County, Tennessee.

 

3. Harriet Burrows, born 6 August 1838 in Grundy County, Tennessee, and died 25 July 1881 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Harriet married Daniel F. "Dan" Coats on 11 May 1854 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  The marriage Records give his name as David F. Coats.  Dan was born 11 September 1832 and died 25 June 1881 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Dan served in the Confederate States Army.

 

4. Mary Ann Burrows, born 2 May 1840 in Grundy County, Tennessee and

 

died 6 November 1921 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Mary married 1st 20 December 1855 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Thomas Newton Caddell, son of Rhoda Doughty and Andrew Caddell, who was born 1834 in Alabama and died in 1856 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Mary married 2nd 16 January 1858 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Holloway Bunyon Power, son of Elizabeth Meals and Holloway Lee Power, who was born 4 May 1834 and died 29 October 1923 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

 

5. John "Doc" Burrows, born 13 February 1842 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 24 October 1931 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He served in the Confederate States Army in Company H, 4th Regiment of the Texas Cavalry.  Doc married Martha Ann Richardson on 18 September 1866 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Martha Ann was born 16 December 1845 and died 9 January 1914 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She is buried in the Old North Church in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

 

6. Elijah "Lige" Burrows, born 15 January 1844 in Grundy County Tennessee, died 21 October 1893 in Nacogdoches County, Texas; married 22 August 1867 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Mary "Mollie" Joanna Millard, daughter of Massie C. "Chick" Tower Waldington Sparks and Robert F. Millard.  She was born 1848 and died 2 December 1901 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

 

7. Henderson "Hince" Virgal Burrows, born 27 October 1845 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 17 June 1922 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He married 8 September 1869 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Etna "Etta" A. Christopher, daughter of Parmelia Coats and W. Robert T. Christopher.  Etta was born 13 August 1851 and died 1 May 1921 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and she is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

 

8. Cela "Sela" Burrows, born 17 July 1847 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 5 November 1923 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She married 16 March 1871 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Joshua J. "Josh" Millard.  Josh was born 1843 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and died 30 May 1906 in Nacogdoches County, Texas; and, is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He was the son of Massie C. "Chick" Tower Waldington Sparks and Robert F. Millard.

 

9. Thomas A. Burrows, born 3 November 1849 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 8 November 1917 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He married Mrs. Laura C. Green Lee, daughter of Lucinda E. Green and Larkin G. Lee, on 19 December 1872 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Laura was born 26 March 1853 and died 29 July 1922, and is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

 

10. David Muckleroy Burrows, born 1 February 1852 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and died 2 February 1888 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He married 19 December 1872 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Miss William Adelaide Box.  Adalaide was the daughter of Laura L. Winningham and Goodwin Box.  She was born 4 April 1857 and died 20 September 1937 in Galveston, Texas; and, she is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

 

11. James Lynn Burrows, was born 23 August 1855 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and died 25 September 1916.  He married 1st. Mary Reed and 2nd Sallie Pike.

            WILLIAM MUCKLEROY BURROWS, son of Elizabeth Beatrice King and David Burrows, was born 16 August 1835 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 8 October 1907 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  William is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            He married 1st 18 December 1856 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Lydia Elizabeth Coats, daughter of Nancy Neal and Daniel Polignac Coats, who was born 14 October 1841 in Alabama.

            He married 2nd. on 25 August 1872 to Fanny M. Spinks in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            William married 3rd. 7 January 1875 to Susan A. Grace.  Susan was born 20 October 1855 and died 22 October 1893 and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            HARRIET BURROWS,  daughter of Elizabeth Beatrice King and David Burrows, was born 6 August 1838 in Grundy County, Tennessee, and died 25 July 1881 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            Harriet married Daniel Franklin "Dan" Coats, son of Nancy Neal and Daniel Polignac Coats, on 11 May 1854 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  The marriage Records give his name as David F. Coats. 

            Dan was born 11 September 1832 in Alabama,  and died 25 June 1881 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            Dan served in the Confederate States Army, and is found on the 1870 Muster Roll of Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He can be found on the 1861 and 1862 Tax List of Nacogdoches County.

            In the 1867 Voters Registration of Nacogdoches County, Texas he stated that he had been a resident of the County for the past 18 years.  He is also listed in the 1860, 1870 and the 1880 Census of the County.

3. Ida Olivia Coats,  was born 20 November 1860 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She married on 19 February 1880 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to James R. Buchanan, son of Amanda and Gabriel M. Buchanan.  James was born ca. 1856 in Texas and died in 1921.  He is buried in the Oak Grove Cemtery in Nacogdoches, Texas.

 

4. Addie Coats, born 21 July 1864 in Nacogdoches County, Texas; married Walter B. Clark, who was born 1 November 1853 in Angelina County, Texas and died 19 December 1988 and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            MARY ANN BURROWS, daughter of Elizabeth Beatrice King and David Burrows, was  born 2 May 1840 in Tennessee and died 6 November 1921 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            Mary married 1st on 20 December 1855 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Thomas Newton Caddell, son of Rhoda Doughty and Andrew Caddell.

            Thomas Newton Caddell was born 1834 in Alabama, and died in 1856 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            Mary married 2nd on 16 January 1858 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Holloway Bunyon Power, son of Elizabeth Meals and Holloway Lee Power.

            Holloway Bunyon Power was born 4 May 1834 in Madison County, Alabama, and died 29 October 1923 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            Holloway served in the Confederate States Army in Company H., 4th Regiment of the Texas Cavalry.  He was wounded in the arm during the Civil War.  Holloway is also found listed on the 1870 Muster Roll of Nacogdoches County; and he is found listed in the 1857, 1861 and 1862 Tax Lists of Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            In the 1867 Voters Registration of Nacogdoches County he stated that he had been a resident of the county for 16 years.

1.  Susannah L. Power, born 12 August 1859 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and died 30 June 1863.

 

2.  Sela Elizabeth Power, born 25 November 1861 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and married 26 December 1875 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Mr. Alex G. Grigsby.

 

3.  David Holloway Power, born 27 January 1863 in Nacogdoches County, Texas; married 1 September 1884 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Miss Tera Christopher.

 

4.  James Franklin Power, born 20 March 1866 in Nacogdoches County, Texas; and, died 24 November 1938 and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  James married Millie Sisco on 4 January 1893 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

Thomas Goodwin Power, born 20 February 1870 in Nacogdoches County, Texas; and died 28 October 1930 and is buried in the Old North Chruch Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Thomas married Tmintie "Mittie" Christopher, daughter of Parmelia Coats and W. Robert T. Christopher.  He is found in the 1880 Census of Nacogdoches County, Texas.

7.  John Bunyon Power, born 17 December 1871 in Nacogdoches County, Texas; married Elizabeth Davis of San Augustine, Texas.

 

8.  Hugh Lawrence Power, born 25 December 1873 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and died 6 January 1902; and, is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He never married.

 

9.  Mary Ann "Mollie" Power, born 21 February 1876 in Nacogdoches

 

County, Texas.  She married 26 December 1895 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Robert T. Fain, son of Mattie A. Hemphill and Thomas J. Fain.  Robert was born 29 August 1871 in Dale County, Alabama.

 

10. Charles D. Power, born 24 April 1878 in Nacogdoches County, Texas; and, he died 17 February 1972.  He is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He is listed in the 1880 Census of Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Charles married Julia Lewis.

            JOHN "DOC" BURROWS, son of Elizabeth Beatrice King and David Burrows, was  born 13 February 1842 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 24 October 1931 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            John served in the Confederate States Army in Company H, 4th Regiment of the Texas Cavalry.

            ELIJAH "LIGE" BURROWS, son of Elizabeth Beatrice King and David Burrows, was  born 15 January 1844 in Tennessee, and died 21 October 1893 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            Elijah served in the Confederate States Army in Company D., 17th Texas Cavalry.

            He married 22 August 1867 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Mary "Mollie" Joanna Millard, daughter of Massie C. "Chick" Tower Waldington Sparks and Robert F. Millard.

            Mollie born 1848 and died 2 December 1901 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            CELA "SELA" BURROWS, daughter of Elizabeth Beatrice King and David Burrows, was  born 17 July 1847 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 5 November 1923 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            She married 16 March 1871 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Joshua J. "Josh" Millard, son of Massie C. "Chick" Tower Waldington Sparks (widow of James Sparks) and Robert F. Millard.

            Joshua J. "Josh" Millard,  was born 1843 in Nacogdoches County, Texas and died 30 May 1906 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Josh is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            Josh enlisted in the Confederate States Army in Company H., 4th Regimanet Texas Cavalry, on 29 September 1861.  He is also on the 1870 Muster Roll of Nacogdoches County, Texas; and the 1867 Voters Registration.

            Sela Burrows Millard received Confederate Pension # 37077 and Confederate Mortuary Warrant # 6723.

 

Children of Sela Burrows and Joshua J. "Josh" Millard:

 

1. Jesse Waldington Millard, born 12 December 1871 in Nacogdoches County, Texas, and died 16 July 1954 and is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas.   He married Anne Donel Watkins, daughter of Martha Louise Burk and John Hayter Watkins,  on 6 January 1886 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He is listed in the 1880 Censu of Nacogdoches County, Texas.

2. Henry Millard, born 16 May 1875 in Nacogdoches County, Texas, and died 27 February 1952 and is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas.  He married Myrtie Baker, daughter of Amanda Wade and Will Baker.  He is listed in the 1880 Census of Nacogdoches County, Texas.

Arch Francis Millard, born 28 June 1887 in Nacogdoches County, Texas, and died 6 September 1970.  He is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas.  He married Pauline Powell, daughter of Margaret Benina Childers and Frank C. Powell.  Pauline was born 30 July 1888 in San Augustine County, Texas and died 16 May 1977.

            THOMAS A. BURROWS, son of Elizabeth Beatrice King and David Burrows, was  born 3 November 1849 in Grundy County, Tennessee and died 8 November 1917 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  He is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            He married Mrs. Laura C. Green Lee, daughter of Lucinda E. Green and Larkin G. Lee, on 19 December 1872 in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            Laura was born 26 March 1853 and died 29 July 1922, and is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            Larkin G. Lee, son of Mary Groce and Isaac Lee, was born 16 May 1824 in Arkansas and died 30 April 1862 during the Civil War.  He is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas in an unmarked grave.  Larkin married Lucinda E. Green on 13 January 1852 in Cherokee County, Texas.  He served in the Confederate States Army in Company G., 8th Texas Regiment; and is listed in the 1857, 1861 and 1862 Tax Lists of Nacogdoches COunty, Texas and in the 1850 Censu of the County.  Lucinda and Larkin also had a son named Isaac Edward Lee, who was born 3 February 1856.

            He married 19 December 1872 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Miss William Adelaide Box. 

            Adalaide was the daughter of Laura L. Winningham and Goodwin Box.  She was born 4 April 1857 and died 20 September 1937 in Galveston, Texas; and, she is buried in the Old North Church Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            King died April 20, 1990 at Nacogoches Memorial Hospital.

            Funeral for Martin L. King, Jr., 85, of 5449 Center Highway  will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. James E. Young, pastor, officiating.

            Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

            King died April 20, 1990 at Nacogoches Memorial Hospital.

            Born, April 3, 1905 in Nacogdoches County, he was the son of Martin L. and Mary Etta Muckleroy King.  He was a retired foreman at Texas Farm Products, after retirement worked at Commercial Nationa Bank, was a lifetime resident of the county and a member of Knights of Colomubus.

            He and Nona Muckleroy were married in 1929, and she survives him.

            Also surviving are two sons, Myrth King and Willia Richard King of Nacogdoches; a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Faye Garcia of Laredo; a brother Clayton King of Nacogdoches; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

            Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Cason-Monk-Metcalf Chapel, and visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.

            Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors will be in charge of arrangements.

            EDNA F. KING, was born ca. 1839 in Tennessee and died before March 1875 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  She married 10 November 1859 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

            David Lee, son of John Lee, was born 3 May 1828 in Alabama and died 16 August 1916 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.  Buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas.

            David served in the Confederate States Army in 4th Texas Cavalry; and, he is listed on the 1870 Muster Roll of Nacogdoches County, Texas. 

            He was a Carpenter and a Wagon Maker.  He is found in the 1857, 1861 and 1862 Tax Lists of Nacogdoches County, Texas.
