Whether you're in the mood for something cool to drink or something to warm you up on a cold day, here's some tasty recipes sure to make you say "YUM!"

COOL IN THE SHADE

SMOOTH STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE

1 pint FRESH strawberries-topped, chopped and washed

1 cup milk (whole milk tastes better-of course!)

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla

2 cups strawberry ice-cream

In blender, blend on med-high speed first 4 ingredients well

Add ice-cream and blend on medium speed until smooth

Add garnish of your choice:

Fresh strawberry slices
Sweetened whipped cream

serves approximately 4-6

PINEAPPLE-BERRY SLUSHY

1 20-OZ. can pineapple chunks-drained

2 cups fresh or forzen unsweetened raspberries or strawberries

1 cup orange juice

1/4 cup concentrated lemon juice

2 tbsp. sugar

1 liter bottle of chilled ginger ale

In blender combine first 5 ingredients. Blend until smooth.  Press through sieve: discard any seeds that remain.  Transfer to 2-quart baking dish. Cover and freeze at least 24 hours.
To serve, let stand at room temperature 20-30 minutes.  With spoon, scrape across surface and place slush in glasses.  Add ginger ale; stir to mix.


Serves 8-10

SUN TEA
A Southern Tradition

Start with approximately 1 gallon of fresh cold water.
Place in glass container
Add 8 regular sized tea bags and cover container (to keep bugs out!)
Set in a sunny spot for approximately 4hours to brew
Bring in and add a cup of sugar (or more to taste)
Serve over a tall glass of ice!

Garnish with a sprig of mint or lemon
or leave as is...it's great either way!
